I’m headed up to the area Friday.  I was thinking about trying Round or Bowstring or both.  Mainly targeting walleye and perch but a mixed bag would be great.  My main question is how is lake travel?  Will I be able to get around with a wheelhouse?  Is anyone willing to point me in the right direction?  It has been several years since I fished this area.

thank you

We're close to the NW PA for Bowstring. If you're seriously considering going there, I recommend giving Geiger's Trails End resort a call @ (800)617-4589 or (218)832-3231. You can visit their homepage  or they are on Facebook as well

Coldtrack

Round lake (by squaw lake) has been slow as hell. I plow a road out to the center humps every year to my ice house. This year instead of battling the drifts trying to keep the road open to a non productive spot I gave up and am keeping a short road out by the landing open to my house. Just as good in 8 feet of water close to the landing as it is a mile out to the same quality of fishing (which is VERY slow).

We've been up for a few weeks & most of the locals we've talked to have said the bite has been slow over there too.

If I had to give up one month of the year for fishing, it would be February.  Not saying you can’t get into something good but I don’t ever hear anyone say they can’t wait for that February bite!

Fortunately we don’t HAVE to give up a month! ;)

Been slow on Bow too. Travel was a little tough off road when we were there last.
