Members Only Fluid Forum View   08/08/2017

Fluid forum view allows members only to get right to the meat of this community; the topics. You can toggle between your preferred forum view just below to the left on the main forum entrance. You will see three icons. Try them out and see what you prefer.   Fluid view allows you, if you are a signed up member, to see the newest topic posts in either all forums (select none or all) or in just your favorite forums (select the ones you want to see when you come to Fishing Minnesota). It keeps and in real time with respect to Topic posts and lets YOU SELECT YOUR FAVORITE FORUMS. It can make things fun and easy. This is especially true for less experienced visitors raised on social media. If you, as a members want more specific topics, you can even select a single forum to view. Let us take a look at fluid view in action. We will then break it down and explain how it works in more detail.   The video shows the topic list and the forum filter box. As you can see, it is easy to change the topic list by changing the selected forums. This view replaces the traditional list of categories and forums.   Of course, members only can change the view to better suit your way of browsing.   You will notice a “grid” option. We have moved the grid forum theme setting into the main forum settings. This makes it an option for members only to choose. This screenshot also shows the removal of the forum breadcrumb in fluid view mode. Fluid view remembers your last forum selection so you don’t lose your place when you go back to the listing. The benefit of this feature is easy to see. It removes a potential barrier of entry for members only. It puts the spotlight on topics themselves, and not the hierarchical forum structure. You as a member will enjoy viewing many forums at once and switching between them without leaving the page. We hope that fluid view, the new functionality is an asset that you enjoy .

Night and day difference since yesterday. Started with my gold spinner and got 4 hits in 2 passes through a short reef. Only caught a 23" and the rest bit short even with the stinger hook. Switched over to the lindy and slowed it down a bit and that's all it took. Had my 4 and threw a handful of small ones back in the next couple hours.

Came back in and had them for lunch, then took my yearly muskie trip this evening to remind myself why I don't fish for them. Back aches and never catch anything

Fishing should be excellent by the weekend. There are some reefs out there that are absolutely loaded with fish. I've had 3 or 4 different boats pull up on one particular reef with me, make 1 or 2 passes and leave. They have to be seeing all the fish down there, but don't catch anything in one pass so they leave. I just don't get it. Trust the electronics and try a couple different methods. They will bite something!

Was up this last weekend and the bite was pretty darn good lots of fish on cranks w leadcore &jig n minnows not great size biggest was just over 20 but caught plenty seemed to do better on the flats then on the rock piles this weekend really tried to make jigging raps work but just wasn't happening this weekend. Was keeping the jig very still not jigging it at all

I thought the bite was pretty good las weekend. I had the opposite experience as Capt Acorn. I had very little bite pulling lead, but I was marking fish so I slowed way down with minnows.  Fishing alone Friday afternoon I had a limit of 16.5-19.5, and threw back a 15 and a 23. Also lost 3-4 big ones near the boat and caught about a dozen smallies up to 19.5.

Saturday I went out for about 20 minutes and caught 2 walleyes 16 & 26.5. I think that's my biggest on Big V this year, although my son had a 28 on opener.

Headed up again Thursday eve. I should find a chance to sneak out once or twice. :)

We used 1/4 and 3/8 oz jigs in calm conditions. The more vertical your line could be, the better. 1-2 feet up was better than the jig sitting on the bottom. Our experience was that the fish were more active with a gold jig.

All minnows for me. jigs or lindys. Chubs, shiners, and pike suckers.

Found walleyes from 8' to 40' yesterday.

Lot's of walleyes to be had, but most for me seem to be smaller (8-10 inches)

PSU,

Lots of smaller walleyes mixed in with the keeper sized fish at most spots. A few spots do seem to have a larger percentage of keeper sized fish though. Looks very good for the next couple of years!

HooDoo Point, Everett Bay public landing, or the Casino are all good landings if you want to fish Big Bay. The Y-Store or  the Food and Fuel in Tower both have good bait.

With 2 trout stamps you can keep double your limit. You heard it here first on the interwebs!  Me and Mr Williams will swing by and say Hi this winter in Ely.   That is, if we can get around your sled!!  Happy Thanksgiving!

There is probably not going to be much ice to speak of  if the forecast holds true. They are talking 50s on Friday, Sunday and Monday. Any ice we did have will most likely be gone, unfortunately.

Haven't been out looking but things have been froze up for awhile. Heard there was some out on Bowstring last week.

Saw something interesting on forest lake this morning...lake was completely locked up, yet someone had launched their boat and was trudging through the ice! That’s dedication! Anyone have any ice updates to report?

2 Trout stamps.  Did I miss something and need to go back and get another?

The 200 foot rule gets me a little but it has to be defined somehow what is occupied and what isn’t.   So for a wheelhouse we get to buy tabs to have on the road and a sticker to have it on the ice and go away for a little while.  Seems pretty close to double taxation since any LE can find out who the owner is from the current plate. Plus the spear shack that I might want to keep up over the weekend.  2 tags plus license. Combination sports license 2 trout stamps Waterfowl stamps Pheasant stamp  Turkey license (stamp now included) Deer license for all seasons   The bucket is getting heavy with all the drops in it.
