To early yet.  Water is to cold.  With temps in 40's during the day, and just above freezing at night it will take a while.Need some warm sunny days and warm night to get them running

I was thinking about giving things a look this weekend 4/15 but it's looking a little early.  Things have got to be getting very close to say the least!

I think I'm going to re-think my last post about holding off.  I'm going to try and get a couple guys together tomorrow night and give it a shot and see what comes of it.

Good luck to all this 2017 smelting season and stay safe!

As always,

Take care

Had some friends on the point last night.  They said the waves were big so they could not go out far.  They did manage to get about 5 dozen.  Now with this snow water will not warm up.  Might go look tonight

Frogs are croaking in my pond ,,, Isn't that an old wives tale that when the frogs start croaking the smelt start running???

that maybe true if only the wind would die down.  Can see white caps from the top of the hill, so I would think getting out might be tough.
