This time of year if you were going to choose one bait to use on the pond to catch smallmouth what would you choose?  We are going to target some smallies on Monday.  I have never done it before.  I would appreciate some guidance ....

I would throw a dropshot. I was there a week ago and caught a few fishing from shore using a small green craw imitator.
