Back from South Dakota Adventure with pics

Recommended Posts

Just back from a pretty great time fishing the Glacial Lake Region in NE South Dakota with my brother Matt.  Things are sure spread out there in the wide open spaces.  You would drive down several county roads, lots of gravel and then suddenly water would appear, mostly looked like flooded ravines and draws.  Trees, buildings half submerged or better made and interesting sight.

We fished both from shore (Fri night) and in a boat (Saturday).  Fishing ranged from good to real good.  I am not huge fan of shore fishing but it was fun because fish were biting and there were no mosquito and we fished till 10 pm.  We were using those drop shot crappie rigs and boy do they get tangled as soon as it gets dark.

Saturday we fished in the boat pulling spinners and Slow Death rigs with half a crawler with the Minn kota I Pilot set a 1 mph.  We had our limit in just a couple of hours.

The fish were nice sized we had them from14 to 21.5 inches, just out of spawning the fish were all pretty thin but nice looking fish (the looked like they were and inch or two longer than necessary)

It was real windy Friday night but nice the rest of the way.  It was something worth doing again.
