Kiwanis Dog Park-Mankato

Has anyone tried fishing near this area?? I drive over the highway 14 bridge to work everyday looking towards the Kiwannis dog park and notice a few rock points that jut out halfway across the river. I've always wanted to try casting a line down there but havent gotten around to doing so.

Might have to give it a try this weekend. The curiousity is getting the best of me ;

I've been down there walking the dog when the river was really low. There are 2 wing dam like structures that run out at a 45 degree angle to shore. They both are all rock rubble and stretch out almost half way across. Never fished it but even when the river is flowing it can't be more than like 4 of 5 foot deep. Let me know if you ever get around to fishing it.

Isn't that private land? I always thought is was so I would check on that before wandering out there.

Not sure if it's private land or not. Don't think so though, cause there is a public walking trail all along the shoreline down there that runs from the dog park all the way up to the Hwy 14 bridge.

I fished that area for flats quite a bit back in May. The action was good before the flood but didn't catch a single cat after. It's fairly deep below the second wing dam. I never tried for any other species
