We got Dealers house moved and a trail plowed to the shacks today. It was a cold windy day on the ice.

Why exactly do we torture ourselves like this???

I set out a house Friday after work in an old reliable spot. I saw four pretty active pike within two hours, including one that came back at least four times, along with a few carp. I ended spearing an 8 to 10 pound carp.

Saturday morning I took out a friend from WI who had never been out in a dark house. I didn't throw the spear, but we had a great morning of viewing. The action had definitely slowed post cold front, but we did see a bass, a few schools of sunfish, several bullheads, a school of tiny bullheads, two pike, including one that was cooperative in term of coming back in several times, and had a muskrat come in fast and bump the decoy. He seemed kind of aggressive toward it (territorial or just in the way?).

I would suspect the action would have picked up in the afternoon as the next front approached.

Darn wish I would of known dealers wasn't that far from mine. How bad was the lake?

I didn't know that either. It wasn't to bad if we weren't pulling trailers we could have made it out no problem. I plowed a path to his so you should be good to go.

I'm on a different path to the west young man grin

besides I got a kid that will help me load mine in the back of my truck today, and if I don't get to it I will bring out a friend with 9n tractor and big blower to get to it, but that would be last resort.

This wind storm is wild!!!

I've seen several fish today. They are blasting decoys pretty good. Not sure if it's just because they are hungry or aggressive. Nothing over 20" or so.

Baby Dorkfish, realistic chub, and realistic northern seem to be drawing the most interest.

Was in the brainerd area today. Had a few aggressive ones come in the first 30-40 minutes, nailed the decoy and left. Two were pretty nice, 8-10#. Also saw a dogfish and some nice bass. Then it slowed down quite a bit, a couple smalls ones swam through towards bottom, not interested at all. Finally speared a 25" just before we were going to leave.

I saw the biggest carp of my life the other day. I grew up on a small lake that is a carp factory. Spent my summers as a kid spearing carp out of my canoe. I have weighed 30+ pounders. This one was way bigger. Like scary big. Looked like a 5 gallon bucket with a tail.

I took one out of that lake a few winters back that was a tad over 36"

That's a lot of snow...

I get the joy of the Oncall rotation for this weekend so I'm using the time to do some mid season upgrades and modifications to the shack. Hope to have it back out there next weekend for second Sunday.

I have a feeling you were the "last one" I was told about on the phone. I ended up with the last twister tail model.

That's a sweet picture.

Did shack improvements today.

I got my walls and carpet done.

Windows got new curtains that do a much better job of doing the job they were intended for.

Rattle reels were spooled with 30' of line and mounted for easy adjustment, quick set up, quick clean up, and to get them out of the way.

Now I just need to get it out on the lake and see if my "improvements" were worth the efforts.

The next photo could be a drone dropping off a delivery of cold beverages, to go with your lunch. laugh

That would be awesome!!

Looks like a good time.

I dug out the bino's and took a look around. I'm the only spear house on the lake. Which is a first for me. I'm not seeing tons of fish, but I've seen enough to keep myself entertained. I even got the tines wet wink

Kind of slow here. We did see a 30" Pike on the bottom that looked like it swallowed a frisbee.

Musta had a sunfish for breakfast.
