Fishing Report Clubs - LIMITED MEMBERSHIP - Join Today - FREE   01/24/2018

Fishing Minnesota had added a new menu item (see above) called Fishing Report Clubs. It's a way to keep the really good fishing reports coming and being shared only with those who also provide detailed fishing reports. We will only approve new members who request to join if they have already posted a recent fishing report in the area forum, associated with the Fishing Report Club area  you want to join. We are going to limit the number of regular memberships, in the Fishing Report Clubs, to the top 20  members in each Club, to those with the best frequency and quality fishing reports provided in the club and less so in the regular fishing report forum open to all members. The higher quality fishing report reserved for the club of course. If  you want fishing reports  around your area, I would Join Now, some of the clubs are starting to fill fast. Use the Fishing Reports Club link in the Menu above (after you've posted a fishing report in the regular area forum) and request to Join.

You know what we all love...

When you enchant people, you fill them with delight and yourself in return. Have Fun!!!

Sturgeon are biting on the Rainy River

Recommended Posts

Here are some of the recent reports we have posted lately.

September 9th, 2013:

Today it rained and misted for most of the day. We got a little over half an inch here but that didn't stop the sturgeon guys. They did go out in the afternoon and stayed out into the night so we will have to wait and see how the night bite was until I talk to them. I hope they stayed dried as some of them didn't bring rain gear.

September 8th, 2013:

After visiting with the WI sturgeon fishermen they told us they caught one for the freezer that was over 48 inches on the 7th. They have caught about 6 sturgeon as of today with the biggest one being caught by Joe which was 61 and 1/4 inches! They also had one that was really close to 45 inches and let it go because some guys said it was just under 45 and some said it was just over 45. They will hopefully be sending us pictures.

September 6th, 2013:

Earlier this week we had a father and daughter that spent 3 and half days fishing for sturgeon. They caught over 41 of them during their stay with us. Another group we talked to caught two 54 inch sturgeon on Tuesday and caught a few in the morning on Wednesday. They are out there!!! Grant went fishing on Wednesday night and they caught some smaller sturgeon. Then on Thursday night Grant's dad went out for some walleye and came in with his limit mainly being saugers but did catch one keeper walleye. Friday was a slower day on the lake for everyone and Grant's dad didn't have as good of luck on the river that night. Hope to have a sturgeon report tomorrow for everyone from our WI group! The weather was nice today except the wind could of been a little calmer.

August 23rd, 2013:

The Sturgeon are biting right off the dock! We had a couple catch a 57 1/2 inch sturgeon right before 5 PM. We talked to a few people that were fishing a few weeks ago for sturgeon and they filled 4 tags. Grant and I hope to get out there in the next few nights to fill up our tags!

September 10th, 2013:

I talked to the WI sturgeon fishermen today and they caught 11 sturgeon yesterday with the biggest one being 63 inches! They had a triple header which was a 40, 43 and half, and 44 and half! They had a double header which included a 50 inch sturgeon! They didn't catch any sturgeon to tag though but they came in with 5 walleyes and 5 small mouth bass. The first walleye that was caught was 20 and half inches and the guy was bummed he had to release it! I talked to another group that is putting two sturgeon in the freezer that they caught! They are biting!!

Hey relax, I haven't been out since that weekend. With an 11 months old at home, fishing gets put to a halt quickly! I've been following the threads as much as I can. I know guys are catching crappies in the deeper water still, basins with the chance to go up to shallow. French is usually good for that but have heard Roberd's has come in late. Two weeks ago there were ice castle's everywhere and we were drilling to the end of the auger. I like Cedar too near Faribault because it's an easy access and typically holds fish. You'll have to let me know where you go and how you do! Fish on!

Have to Agree moose the turkeys are becoming a little smarter each year. Better decoys have definitely upped my odds last few years. Seriously considering those Dave smiths or some Avian X.  Moose what are you using for a setup combo with those Avians? My customs look nice but always looking for something better

Watching fish on the camera is really fun> One day a musky was being a real pia!  But it was fun watching him. Some days it's around some days not. today I saw him only once.  You sure can learn alot on what it looks like on your depth finder and how the fish are reacting to the different techniques a guy uses!  Have fun, good fishing!

The tip-up was in slightly shallower water but the difference was probably about two feet.  Sounds like Devil's Lake is the good bet but that's quite a jaunt.  I have heard that water clarity is a big issue out west and that would really stink if you get somewhere and can't see.  Might soak some suckers on Mille Lacs since it looks like the pike angling season is extended again this year.  Good luck this weekend!

Decoys sure have come along ways from the foam things my grandpa used. I bought some Avian X decoys and retired grandpa’s foam things. I have noticed I am getting more birds into range with the better decoys.

I found a great bait selection at the Baxter Fleet Farm today.  3 sizes of suckers, multiple sizes of golden shiners, and of course fat heads and crappies. The first bait shop I tried only had fat heads and crappies.
