Burntside Lake Fishing Reports---Lake Conditions

Recommended Posts

I'll be up there with a smaller boat than originally planned, so I might hit the north arm for the 1st time ever. I've always heard there aren't as many smelt/lakers in that area. Anything change much?

I haven't been out on Burntside yet this year.  I have heard of some nice fish being caught tho.

Had a great couple days at the lake, really nice weather water temps were rising quickly when I left surface temps were at 70 throughout much of the north arm.  I was not able to boat a single laker.  I fished the north arm only.  I was able to catch some really nice eyes' though, the biggest was a 31" pig with several others from 24"-28" and even a few 4-6 inch fish which I hadn't caught many that small on burntside before.  Most of the eyes came on rapalas, a few on leaches, which I found unusual for b'side.  The eyes were all caught in 13-18 fow.

Those were some nice fish Ben.  Thanks for the report.

I'll be in the area this weekend but might not get to Burntside since I just remembered I forgot to bring my downriggers from home!  Maybe I'll be able to get my wife to grab them when she leaves...

Anybody know if the water fleas are thick like they have been in the past around this time of year?

I was up last Saturday for the day.

Report is on the "Ely Ice conditions" thread.  Found 8-9" of clear ice with 3-5" of snow.

Landed one 6# trout, one other bump but did mark quite a few fish.  Just lots of lookers and chasers who wouldnt commit.

Fished the Dead River area and NW of the Van Vac access.

Hope to get back up soon.

Tons and tons of slush up there after the warm weekend. Got a 30 today and one other chaser, looking for new water again. Slow but fun as always! Atv should be ok? Most slush not too deep.
