Have a cabin on Shamrock (connected to Reilly) but have never fished it this early in the year. If anyone has fished them or has insight from lakes like this that can help a guy get on a few crappies these next few weekends it would be much appreciated.

Thanks,

Tim

Try small jigs or crappie minnows under a float, set about 16" or so. Check out the weedlines, especially the rushes. Should be able to get both crappies and sunnies when using a small jig/plastic or feather or hair jig.

When you are fishing it 16" down, what kind of depth are you typically targeting?

Thanks again for the replies and have a great opener (have you narrowed down your plans yet?)

I'm fishing shallow weeds, in the 24" range. There's a lot of fish up shallow right now. Got a few more nice ones tonight.

Great to hear that they are up shallow, hope to get into a few this weekend. Struggled with them last weekend (actually more the wind than anything). Are you guys using minnows when they are up shallow or just plastics?

Tim
