X-Rap's breaking off hooks

I use mainly sizes 6 and 8. But have been having horrible luck as what holds or seeds the treble hook to the lure have been breaking off. I have lost countless fish over this. Anyone experiencing the same issue? Or it just me? These lures are getting too expensive to keep breaking on me.

Last season was terrible for me using and losing a lot of the rear hooks and lips on my DT4s. Haven't had that problem yet with my kvd cranks. Lost 8 Dt4s in one day of fishing, gets kinda old having that problem for how much they cost, it adds up fast.

Never lost one yet on any of these lures. I have alot of them and use them quite a bit. Maybe lucky or something. Is the treble pulling out or is part of the lure body broken off, looks like just the treble.

If it is just the treble could one epoxy the back treble back into the end of the lure body with a strong 2 part epoxy?

I would call first and then if the company will do nothing, epoxy the treble back in.

I would contact Rapala. I had an issue with another companies lure a couple of years ago and they sent me some free lures. I would think that Rapala would take care of you.

I have also had this issue. I got a bunch in a sale bin at Gander and several of them did the same thing. Great CoHo lures though.

Wow! For sure send it in. There is a form at the website www.rapala.com and the address for warranty returns. I am sure they will replace it if it was not abused.

How did it happen?

For the price of Rapalas, I am shocked that they do not have full through wire construction on these lures. If they were, you would not have to worry about these problems. How lame!

Through Wire adds weight and jacks up the action. They should not be breaking though. Send them in.

I have had this happen to xraps and husky jerks. Back hooks and middle hooks. PITA. Never thought about sending them in. I threw the ones away that lost the back hook and just continue to use the ones with the middle hook gone. The action does seem to be better without that hook on there though. LOL

Ive heard the problems with DT's lips but I think that has a lot to do with improper care, never heard of this problem with the Xraps.

Send 'em back to Rapala and they will take care of you.

I've thrown away a few and the rest I stashed and was thinking of somehow glueing it all back but dont think it will hold. If it happens again i'll likely get in contact with Rapala. In total I have had 7 xraps do this. My buddy has a few himself too. Im just waiting for one to fall apart again during use...

Good to know about the problem but bad seeing as how I have so darn many that could be a potential problem it sucks

Why wait for it to happen again? Rapala will take care of you. Send yours and your buddies back together.

I've had Cotton Cordell lure do that but I didn't pay top dollar for them. It kind of makes me wonder what I'm paying for. I hope it isn't the finish because I don't think the fish care one way or the other for that.

They are great baits and I have quite a few in various colors and sizes but they are not always the most durable.

I've broken bills on DTs before by being lazy and smacking them against the water to remove weeds instead of just taking them off. Now when I use DT's I loosen my drag up just a tad.

On the south end...   The big basin, otherwise known as Big Traverse Bay, is ice free.  Zippel Bay and Four Mile Bay are ice free as well.  Everything is shaping up nicely for the MN Fishing Opener on May 11th. With the walleye / sauger season currently closed, most anglers are targeting sturgeon and pike.  Some sturgeon anglers are fishing at the mouth of the Rainy River, but most sturgeon are targeted in Four Mile Bay or the Rainy River.  Hence, pike are the targeted species on the south shore and various bays currently.   Pike fishing this time of year is a unique opportunity, as LOW is border water with Canada, the pike season is open year round. The limit is 3 pike per day with one being able to be more than 40 inches. All fish 30 - 40 inches must be released. Back bays hold pike as they go through the various stages of the spawn.  Deadbait under a bobber, spinners, spoons and shallow diving crankbaits are all viable options.   Four Mile Bay, Bostic Bay and Zippel Bay are all small water and boats of various sizes work well. On the Rainy River...  Great news this week as we learned sturgeon will not be placed on the endangered species list by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.     The organization had to make a decision by June 30 and listing sturgeon could have ended sturgeon fishing.  Thankfully, after looking at the many success stories across the nation, including LOW and the Rainy River, sturgeon fishing and successful sturgeon management continues.   A good week sturgeon fishing on the Rainy River.  Speaking to some sturgeon aficionados, fishing will actually get even better as water temps rise.     Four Mile Bay at the mouth of the Rainy River near the Wheeler's Point Boat Ramp is still producing good numbers of fish, as are various holes along the 42 miles of navigable Rainy River from the mouth to Birchdale.   The sturgeon season continues through May 15th and resumes again July 1st.   Oct 1 - April 23, Catch and Release April 24 - May 7, Harvest Season May 8 - May 15, Catch and Release May 16 - June 30, Sturgeon Fishing Closed July 1 - Sep 30, Harvest Season If you fish during the sturgeon harvest season and you want to keep a sturgeon, you must purchase a sturgeon tag for $5 prior to fishing.    One sturgeon per calendar year (45 - 50" inclusive, or over 75"). Most sturgeon anglers are either a glob of crawlers or a combo of crawlers and frozen emerald shiners on a sturgeon rig, which is an 18" leader with a 4/0 circle hook combined with a no roll sinker.  Local bait shops have all of the gear and bait. Up at the NW Angle...  A few spots with rotten ice, but as a rule, most of the Angle is showing off open water.  In these parts, most are looking ahead to the MN Fishing Opener.  Based on late ice fishing success, it should be a good one.

Nice fish. I moved to the Sartell area last summer and just thought it was windy like this everyday up here? 🤭

Crazy windy again today.... This is has been the norm this spring. Between the wind and the cold fronts, fishing has been more challenging for me than most years.  Panfish have been moving in and out of the shallows quite a bit. One day they are up in the slop, the next they are out relating to cabbage or the newly sprouting lilly pads.  Today eye guy and I found them in 4-5 ft of water, hanging close to any tree branches that happened to be laying in the water.  Bigger fish were liking a 1/32 head and a Bobby Garland baby shad.   Highlight of the day way this healthy 15incher
