Minnesota Fishing Report Clubs - ONLY 20 FREE MEMBERSHIPS Per Area - Join Today - FREE   03/08/2018

Fishing Minnesota has added a new menu item (see above) called Fishing Report Clubs. It's a way to keep the really good fishing reports coming and being shared only with those who also provide detailed fishing reports. We will only approve new members who request to join if they have already posted a recent fishing report in the area forum, associated with the Fishing Report Club area  you want to join. Initially we are going to limit the number of regular memberships, in the Fishing Report Clubs, to the top 20 members in each Club, to those with the best frequency and quality fishing reports provided in the club and less so in the regular fishing report forum open to all members. The higher quality fishing report reserved for the club of course. If  you want see detailed fishing reports/tips  around your area and will share your detailed fishing report as soon as you join, then Join Now! Some of the clubs are starting to fill fast. Use the Fishing Reports Club link in the Menu above (after you've posted a fishing report in the regular area forum) and request to Join.

You know what we all love...

When you enchant people, you fill them with delight and yourself in return. Have Fun!!!

Coleman SportCat

I was fortunate enough to receive a Coleman SportCat catalytic heater for Christmas this year. I've never used a heater like this before. I've suffered in my little single man portable with candle lanterns the past several years. They don't provide much heat obviously.

Is this safe to use without vents in my old fish house? Or should I cut some vents? I get a lot of air flow up from the bottom of it because I don't pack snow around the front, it's a flip over style house. I heard the BlackCat heaters from Coleman say they are safe for indoor use. The SportCat doesn't say that anywhere on the box.

Thanks for any help.

You should be fine with the minimal ventilation that you already have. The Sportcat only puts out like 1100 BTU's, so it really doesn't consume a ton of oxygen or produce a lot of co2. You will like the Sportcat, not a ton of heat, but you can put the unit very close to you. Perfect for warming up the hands after catching a fish or puttin on a minner.

Also, I plan on keeping one running overnight in my tent while winter camping, and I'm not too worried about suffocating in my sleep.

I use the Blackcat in my 1-man FishTrap with no problems. I'm usually burning my Coleman lantern at the same time. Remember CO2 builds up in your system over time.

I picked up new rain gear last year.  I took a layering approach and went with Gill. I love the stuff and can more comfortably wear it in warmer climates.   jacket - bibs - bib& insul bib -

Like stocking walleyes into every mudhole in the state? Yes, I'm exaggerating, but if walleye stocking were ended, lots of lakes would eventually be walleye-free. Stocking fish in Minnesota (walleyes, trout and muskie for the most part) is done to boost tourism and all the various industries associated with tourism. That includes resorts, bait shops, restaurants, boat manufacturers and retailers, tackle manufacturer and retailers, clothing manufacturers and retailers, guides, advertising, publishers, websites and probably others I haven't thought of. It's a big part of the economy, and the popularity of muskie fishing is booming. The state should promote and support muskie fishing just like walleye fishing for the same reasons. No, I'm not a muskie fisherman. I own a few muskie baits and occasionally fling them around, but not seriously. I'm too old and my shoulders are too lame to do that very long. I've caught maybe 6 muskies in the last 15 years, and most of them were caught bass fishing.

I need to pick up 1 or 2 Muskie combos by June but haven’t fully decided what I want. Other than that, I’m taking it easy. My checking account is still feeling the effects Black Friday 2017.

I'm so jealous of you guys, I put my ice fishing gear away couple nights ago. It took 3 Busch lights and and one Keystone light tall boy to muster up the courage to pack it away till next winter. Sad day.

Spent some time on on Francis today. Ice on the main part of the lake looks to be in great shape but the west access is pretty bad. Got the ATV out, Probably not getting a vehicle out though. Saw one car out, don’t know where they got on the ice. Shore isn’t pulling away yet (other than the access).
