Bluegills!

Recommended Posts

Hey all, thanks for welcoming me to the HSO family! I got out and did some bluegill fishing yesterday. I started fishing in 12 fow, near a weed island. Area had sparse curly pond weed. Caught lots of bluegills but average size was poor. Moved out to a main lake point on rocks, and a little deeper water and found some bulls. Also caught some incidental bass while probing the depths. These fish were in much smaller pods, sometimes even lone bulls. Just thought I'd share. Tight lines!

Thanks for sharing and welcome to HSO. My annual bull gill trip is still 3 weeks away and reports like this starting to get me excited.

I took my niece out last night on the mighty Mississip for some cats. The fishing was good but bugs were BAD. She landed 8 cats, and broke 2 off on her own set up before switching to my heavy gear. I'm thinking of getting one of those full body mesh bug suits. How are you catching the walleyes ? Leadcore??

I dont use the led core on the river much for cranks. I find that three way rigs work better for me. I have been getting my eyes pitching jigs and crawlers to the current edges.

Going out this weekend to chase some gills for my fiances grandpa. He is getting out the nursing home and all he has been talking about some fresh fish. I have spots that I can go and catch some gills, but we will be in the St. Cloud area and don't want to drive back another hour. If someone can PM me and help a friend out that would be great. I will trade spots in the Annadale/metro area if you would like.
