Any recent reports from Maple Lake? Heading up this weekend and trying to see what gear to bring with.

Did a little ice check today with a 6 in drill bit and never found water. Theres about a dozen houses on the lake today. Still some typical open water by the inlet and outlet on the east shore, but people r fishin the pier area.

Seemed to be around 5" of ice, fishing was slow at best for me but also didn't stay long.

Went out today and found 10 to 12 in. of ice, but still open by outlet. Fishing was good for maple, caught every specie in maple except crappies and bullheads. Tried a different spot on the lake away from everyone else and ill be back there next time.

REMEMBER, tis the season to not leave anything in a fishouse that is lighter or smaller than...the fishouse. Went out to maple yesterday and was talking with a lady that was checking a friends house. Someone broke in and cleaned house. Locks only keep the honest people out. Some of the houses had been moved by the wind up to shore. If I left a house out there with that open water on the east side...maybe some ice anchors for a house? 8" of ice and got skunked. Stayed out till 830 and only lookers. Plenty of fish on the flasher, they just didn't want any minnows, waxies, small, big. Felt good to get out on the ice for the first time of the year. Be careful with your portables and houses getting on and off the lake. The ice is busted up pretty good at the access and the rocks seem larger than last year to go over. With no snow it's pretty rough. Tore the eyelets right off my portable rig getting caught on the rocks. Good luck and be safe out there!
