Predictions for Vikings Season.

T-Wolves all over again. $1 seats anyone?

I dont think you can compare the 2 clubs at all, Glen Taylor is willing to drop the price of his tickets to bring people in, while he knows he isnt putting a product on the court that is worth full price. I am pretty sure we wont be seeing bulk ticket packages such as the 20 ticket pack deals that the Wolves, and Twins offer up.

I took my wife to the Tampa Bay game because the Vikings were offering tickets at 50% off to avoid blackouts.....so they were already at this point BEFORE the season started.

well its only fair they charge half-price, the Vikes only play half a game!

McFlabb is beyond tired after halftime. You know how it is when you play sports when your out of shape, then you take a break for half hour and stiffen up then you have to get back at it.

Didn't Shanahan say that was the reason he took McNabb out of a game with two minutes left and replaced him with Sexy Rexy? McNabb's tongue is hanging out after the first drive...and we've seen how short their drives have been lately. grin

I will give them 4 wins this year. I too see them being moved to LA. I haven't seen a full Viking game since preseason last year. I'm so mad at them right now it's too painful to watch! Old man Farve and now fat and happy McNabb! I just hope when they are moved they won't be called the LA Vikings...we should keep the name and rebuild. BUT...then again there's the Lakers, so my hopes are shot!

One of the wins I picked is this Sunday against the Chiefs...they blow that - move on!

Boo McFlabb, Boo Frazier, and hey Zigi...get out!

OOOH that was a good one, saw lots of positives to build on for next week! Pfft. We are screwed this year. I was holding out some hope for McNabb to start coming through, but he IS terrible.

Is it time for Ponder, supposed to be the most NFl "ready" qb in the draft.... I think if GB wins today, it's over anyway, why not see if he was worth the 1st round pick. Either way I'm done watching for about the next 6 weeks anyway, until my rod guides start freezing that is!

Hey at least we have the gophers, the twins and the t-wolves... sick

Now I know I was being optimistic when I predicted a 6-10 record. They will do well to get 4 wins this year. Stick a fork in them.

I accepted the fact that my seven-win prediction was too optimistic after last week's collapse.

I have faith in the Vikings winning just enough games--two, three, four--to ensure that they have no chance at Luck with the first overall pick. None of those wins will be against NFC North teams.

I have to say this with a bit of a vomit in my mouth, but it's kinda fun watching the packers, a team that actually has the talent and coaching and knows what to do with it.. they look absolutely unstoppable.. mad

Green Bay's defense is average; it will cost them a couple games this year before things are done. Hopefully one of those games is in the playoffs.

Ponder will start next week and McNabb will be realeased to make a spot for another player. that is what i think should happen but we will see. we are in a re-building phase or at least that what we should be doing. the offensive line needs to be less offensive. good luck.

Leslie said in the post-game conference that McWashedup will start next week. Sounds like a repeat of Chilly's undying love of T-Jack and look where that took him...to the unemployment line.

Speaking of T-Jack...he just tossed another TD pass... whistle

Or simply a logical decision to give Ponder a bit more time.

According to Leslie he's a NFL-ready QB, so no reason not to throw him in there. He has a bromance with McNabb back to when they were both at Philly and now he doesn't want to be the one to end his career. Well, it's either him or McNabb at this point.

Well, I'll just let that one go, exit stage right, and not be a Packers fan horning in on a Vikings thread.

so how much time does Ponder need under the leadership of McNabb? to anounce that McNabb is going to start next week tells me Frazier has some illusion that the vikings are going into the playoffs and further. if that's the case a coaching change is proper. the packers knew when Farve had his best days, and so should the vikings. This is not all McNabb's fault by any means, many changes need to be made, but at least give the guy you drafted to be a quarterback time in the NFL, and not on the bench. good luck.

Play calling has everything to do with it. T-Jack was 25-38 for 319 yards and 3 touchdowns. I always wondered what he could do with an actual opportunity with some actual NFL-caliber play calling (something he never got with the Vikings).

Open up the playbook. Throw the ball on first down once in a while. Throw the ball more than 11 or 12 yards downfield once in a while. If you do that, both McNabb and T-Jack are better QBs. And if you don't, Ponder will look bad, too, and everyone will be ready to throw him under the bus by next season along with T-Jack and McNabb.

Looking ahead at the Vikings schedule, they won't throw Ponder at the Packers or Bears in his first start (weeks 6 and 7). Maybe week 8 against Cam Newton and the Panthers? Then it is a bye week, then Monday night against the Packers in week 10...that won't be his first start.

I would think that Ponder will get his first NFL start Week 11 against the Raiders.

With real NFL playcalling, through 3 weeks, he was the 28th rated QB in the NFL. Dont leave out he had 2 INT's today. I dont think to many people are missing him....

You do realize that Darrel Bevel is Seattles offensive coordinator now....?

Every time they do, McNabb throws it five yards out of bounds.

you do realize Tjack has the same OC as he did in MN, right?

We will all be Packer fans once the Vikings are gone.

I Dunno, the Lions aren't that bad either!

Vikes are beyond disappointing this year, I'm at the point where I'm starting to hope they don't pull a win out at the end so we can get a better pick lol.

Man is it ever hard being a Vikings Fan living in Superior Wisconsin these days. Dont get me wrong I have always appreciated the Cheeseheads and Packers but why do they have to be such poor winners? I mean they should have gotten the hang of it by now dont ya think. crazy

I'm not there, so I can't tell exactly what's going on but it looks like a large area of open water developed in the last day with all of the heavy snow on the east side of wake em up Narrows. These two photos are from my Ring Camera facing north towards Niles Point.  You can see what happened with all of snow that fell in the last three days, though the open water could have been wind driven. Hard to say. .

Black Bay had great ice before but a few spots near rockpiles where there were spots of open water. It looks like the weight of the snow has created a little lake in the middle of the bay.

On the south end...   Thanks to some cold spring weather, ice fishing continues strong for those still ice fishing.  The bite remains very good.  Most resorts have pulled their fish houses off for the year, however, some still have fish houses out and others are allowing ATV and side by sides.  Check social media or call ahead to your favorite resort for specifics. Reports this week for walleyes and saugers remain excellent.   A nice mix of jumbo perch, pike, eelpout, and an occasional crappie, tullibee or sturgeon being reported by anglers. Jigging one line and using a live minnow on the second line is the way to go.  Green, glow red, pink and gold were good colors this week.     Monster pike are on a tear!  Good number of pike, some reaching over 45 inches long, being caught using tip ups with live suckers or dead bait such as smelt and herring in 8 - 14' of water.   As always, work through a resort or outfitter for ice road conditions.  Safety first always. Fish houses are allowed on the ice through March 31st, the walleye / sauger season goes through April 14th and the pike season never ends. On the Rainy River...  The river is opened up along the Nelson Park boat ramp in Birchdale, the Frontier boat ramp and Vidas boat ramp.  This past week, much of the open water skimmed over with the single digit overnight temps.   Areas of the river have popped open again and with temps getting warmer, things are shaping up for the last stretch through the rest of the spring season, which continues through April 14th.   Very good numbers of walleyes are in the river.  Reports this week, even with fewer anglers, have been good.  When temps warm up and the sun shines, things will fire up again.   Jigs with brightly colored plastics or jigs with a frozen emerald shiner have been the desired bait on the river.  Don't overlook slow trolling crankbaits upstream as well.   Good reports of sturgeon being caught on the river as well.  Sturgeon put the feed bag on in the spring.  The bite has been very good.  Most are using a sturgeon rig with a circle hook loaded with crawlers or crawlers / frozen emerald shiners. Up at the NW Angle...  Ice fishing is winding down up at the Angle.  Walleyes, saugers, and a number of various species in the mix again this week.  The bite is still very good with good numbers of fish.  The one two punch of jigging one line and deadsticking the second line is working well.   Check with Angle resorts on transport options from Young's Bay.  Call ahead for ice road guidelines.

With the drifting, kind of hard to tell for sure, but I'm guessing about a foot and still lightly snowing. Cook end!

How much snow did you get on Vermilion?
    • Mike89
lake here refroze too...  started opening again yesterday with the wet snow and wind...  very little ice left today...
    • Hookmaster
A friend who has a cabin between Alex and Fergus said the lake he's on refroze. He texted me a pic from March 12th when it was open and one from 23rd when it wasn't. 🤯
    • SkunkedAgain
I don't think that there has been any ice melt in the past few weeks on Vermilion. Things looked like a record and then Mother Nature swept in again.   I'll give my revised guess of April 21st

As I get older it's really not just about sending bullets down range.  Some of it's just the workmanship of the gun and the wow factor. The other two guns I have really wanted which I'll never have now because of their price, is a 8mm Jap Nambu and 9mm German Luger.   Just thought they always looked cool!

I had a guy hit me with a lightly used 1969 BAR, he wanted $1650 with an older Leupold scope. More than I think they are worth, I made an offer, he declined end of story.   You know if you look at the old brochures, a grade II BAR sold for $250 in the late 60s, $1650 would be a good return on your investment.    Why would anybody want a 50 year old gun, they are heavy, have wood stocks, and blued metal.  I guess mainly to keep their gun safes glued to the floor. lol   You can probably buy a stainless rifle that you never have to clean, with a synthetic stock you never have to refinish, is as light as a feather, and for half as much money, perfect.   I'm too old for a youth gun, although I've shrunk enough that it would probably fit. lol   No Ruger 10/44s.   Jim
