Hey - that works out to 6-10 as well. I think that's a little optimistic too, but hey...hope springs eternal, right? I'd really rather see them go 1-15 and draft Andrew Luck next year than go 6-10.

I am going to give them the opertunity to pick up a few more draft picks before making a prediction. If they dont get some front line help, and some secondary help. 6-10 will be optimistic.

I'm going to be optimistic, and say the Vikings go 7-9.

Basically, the McNabb deal will be just enough to cost them a higher draft pick.

All depends on what McNabb arrives in town. 6-10 sounds about right to me though.

Very nice of the NFL to schedule our Bye week the weekend of the Deer Hunting Opener for much of the state. I wish there was a way to make that happen every year!

Whats wrong with you guys....What happend to the fans! I for sure see the vikes getting close to a 10 win season. Although it will be competitive in our own division, doesnt mean the pack, bears and kitties will blow the vikes out. We always play tough football against these teams no matter what the personal is! Plus by getting Donnie, it is obvious that we are not giving up on right now as oppose to "rebuilding" and for that reason I am not giving up as a fan either ~ Go Vikes!

On a side note, I like when everyone under estimates the teams success, that seems to always trigger a "out of no-where season" We still have a decent team.......again GO VIKEs!!!!!!V-I-K-I-N-G-S!!!!!!!!!!!!

Vegas is going with 6.5 for the over under. It's the NFL so with a couple of breaks here or there we should be able to win 7 or 8 games if not it's 5 or 6.

I'll take the over 6.5

Hey, I think I'm going to do great every time I go out fishing too. But I'm a realist and if the wife wants to know what's for dinner she should probably start thawing some hamburger!

Still got to be optomistic. When I go fishing, my plan is to catch lots and lots of fish. When I go to the casino, my plan is to win lots and lots of money, and when the vikes play, I plan on seeing them win win win! GO VIKES! I am thinking a 10-6 or 11-5 season...

Haha, so true.

I'm expecting an 8-8 / 9-7 type season with the chance to make playoffs. I wouldn't be shocked though if we won more, I'll be mad if we win any less lol.

From there anything can happen just like any team, a game breaking play or a little luck is all it takes sometimes.

The nonconference schedule is not very tough. I can see 8 wins.

Uhhh, what? Half of those non-conference games are against 2010 playoff teams. In fact, I think that the Vikings will be lucky to start any better than 0-4. They can't beat San Diego. The Bucs and the Chiefs were playoff teams last year and are both on the rise. The Lions are a team on the rise as well but have much better talent than the Vikings at this point. Those are four hard games for a team with new leaders at almost every offensive position (except AP) to win.

First win of the season might be against the Cardinals in Week 5 but both teams will have a 50/50 shot at winning. Just being a realist. Now, my gut tells me that the Vikings will get a win before going 0-4 but there's no logic that one could use to back up that statement.

Don't care what the schedule says. Don't care who we play. Any team can win any Sunday. Call me a rube, tell me I am drinking too much purple kool aid. The Vikings will go at LEAST 10-6 this year. I think the defense will step it up this year and show us how they should of been last year. McNabb will do wonders with AP behind him and lead the Vikings to the playoffs.

Which NFL did u watch that the bucs were a playoff team.

Good correction. Bucs are still a good team though and 10-6 was impressive for the third place team in the strongest NFC division in 2010.

9-7/8-8,I think. The team is still talented on both sides of the ball. I refuse to think last year was anything more than an udder disaster from the start, not indicitive of the talent of the team. W@ith all the changes everyone is making this year it all a guess but we are better than we looked last year.

  • 4 weeks later...

9-7 or 10-6...will be in the hunt for the division, with only one team going to the play-offs. The division is going to be brutal, every team can knock any other team off, on any given sunday. Key injuries could decide it....Vikes are tied with G.B. so far.

Key injuries could decide it.

There is that. It takes a heckuva franchise to overcome key injuries and find success.

Best of luck to you guys this year. Well, maybe not the BEST of luck, but before the new season dawns and we get all wrapped up in the furball, just wanted to wish you well. smile

Where?

They will be lucky to win 5 maybe 6.

I'm going to say 7-9 this year.

We dont have the childress factor working against us.

Not sure what kind of offense Frasier and the boys are going to throw out there.

The defense looks decent, but no FAT PAT in the middle to clog things up.

Our reciving core could be decent, with williams, aromashedu and harvin.

Like foss said, injuries will probably decide things in the conference, but for us it will probably decide between 3rd and 4th grin

Go Vikes!

Vikes don't have any receivers named Williams, so not sure who you mean, but I think our receivers will be decent also. The catches will be spread out, so nobody will have a HUGE year.

I really expect a logjamb in the conference....7-9 to 10-6 range from bottom to top (bears or lions on bottom).

With the early ice out, how is the curlyleaf pondweed doing?

On the south end...   The big basin, otherwise known as Big Traverse Bay, is ice free.  Zippel Bay and Four Mile Bay are ice free as well.  Everything is shaping up nicely for the MN Fishing Opener on May 11th. With the walleye / sauger season currently closed, most anglers are targeting sturgeon and pike.  Some sturgeon anglers are fishing at the mouth of the Rainy River, but most sturgeon are targeted in Four Mile Bay or the Rainy River.  Hence, pike are the targeted species on the south shore and various bays currently.   Pike fishing this time of year is a unique opportunity, as LOW is border water with Canada, the pike season is open year round. The limit is 3 pike per day with one being able to be more than 40 inches. All fish 30 - 40 inches must be released. Back bays hold pike as they go through the various stages of the spawn.  Deadbait under a bobber, spinners, spoons and shallow diving crankbaits are all viable options.   Four Mile Bay, Bostic Bay and Zippel Bay are all small water and boats of various sizes work well. On the Rainy River...  Great news this week as we learned sturgeon will not be placed on the endangered species list by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.     The organization had to make a decision by June 30 and listing sturgeon could have ended sturgeon fishing.  Thankfully, after looking at the many success stories across the nation, including LOW and the Rainy River, sturgeon fishing and successful sturgeon management continues.   A good week sturgeon fishing on the Rainy River.  Speaking to some sturgeon aficionados, fishing will actually get even better as water temps rise.     Four Mile Bay at the mouth of the Rainy River near the Wheeler's Point Boat Ramp is still producing good numbers of fish, as are various holes along the 42 miles of navigable Rainy River from the mouth to Birchdale.   The sturgeon season continues through May 15th and resumes again July 1st.   Oct 1 - April 23, Catch and Release April 24 - May 7, Harvest Season May 8 - May 15, Catch and Release May 16 - June 30, Sturgeon Fishing Closed July 1 - Sep 30, Harvest Season If you fish during the sturgeon harvest season and you want to keep a sturgeon, you must purchase a sturgeon tag for $5 prior to fishing.    One sturgeon per calendar year (45 - 50" inclusive, or over 75"). Most sturgeon anglers are either a glob of crawlers or a combo of crawlers and frozen emerald shiners on a sturgeon rig, which is an 18" leader with a 4/0 circle hook combined with a no roll sinker.  Local bait shops have all of the gear and bait. Up at the NW Angle...  A few spots with rotten ice, but as a rule, most of the Angle is showing off open water.  In these parts, most are looking ahead to the MN Fishing Opener.  Based on late ice fishing success, it should be a good one.

Nice fish. I moved to the Sartell area last summer and just thought it was windy like this everyday up here? 🤭

Crazy windy again today.... This is has been the norm this spring. Between the wind and the cold fronts, fishing has been more challenging for me than most years.  Panfish have been moving in and out of the shallows quite a bit. One day they are up in the slop, the next they are out relating to cabbage or the newly sprouting lilly pads.  Today eye guy and I found them in 4-5 ft of water, hanging close to any tree branches that happened to be laying in the water.  Bigger fish were liking a 1/32 head and a Bobby Garland baby shad.   Highlight of the day way this healthy 15incher
