Fishing Report Clubs - LIMITED MEMBERSHIP - Join Today - FREE   01/24/2018

Fishing Minnesota had added a new menu item (see above) called Fishing Report Clubs. It's a way to keep the really good fishing reports coming and being shared only with those who also provide detailed fishing reports. We will only approve new members who request to join if they have already posted a recent fishing report in the area forum, associated with the Fishing Report Club area  you want to join. We are going to limit the number of regular memberships, in the Fishing Report Clubs, to the top 20  members in each Club, to those with the best frequency and quality fishing reports provided in the club and less so in the regular fishing report forum open to all members. The higher quality fishing report reserved for the club of course. If  you want fishing reports  around your area, I would Join Now, some of the clubs are starting to fill fast. Use the Fishing Reports Club link in the Menu above (after you've posted a fishing report in the regular area forum) and request to Join.

I can't recall for sure if they have any out yet, and I've never seen one. But, I recall hearing a lot of discusion about them earlier this year. Check out their website.

Hawksguy/ I have the same problem. If you have the FL-8 you can get a blue chip installed. Vex said the FL-18 will have it next year they think. The FL-18 doesnt bother me becasue its much brighter. I have problems with the orange and red but can see yellow fine. Check out the vex website for more info on the blue chip.

I guess I'm not alone in this condition. I have the FL 8 as a bow mount on my electric and have a beast of a time using it. I'm at my best with the old paper graph locators we used on Lake Michigan (except I got plenty tired of paying $5 and $6 per roll of paper.

We golfing, I use only yellow and white tees. Red and blue blend too nicely into the green grass background.

Same deal for me boys. I have difficulty in some color bands. Fortunately to compensate for that God gave me eye's like a cat at night.

What helps for me is polarized glasses, I can pick out the differences in contrast that way. Bright light for me wash's out subtleties in colors.

Try different tints of polarized lenses and see if any work for you. I wear a graduated polarized tint on my prescription glasses and it helps me a lot. Not a cure but it does help me.

Get this, when I was in 1st grade I had a cranky old wonder of a teacher. She said I was not color blind, just color stupid!

Man she used to torment me!

I did my very best to return the favor too.

LOL!

I'm in the same boat too. Like Ed, when I was in 6th grade I had a teacher tell me that I wasn't color blind, just color retarded (this was after I colored a few dozen poppies brown on a poster we had to do for class).
Interestingly, the opposite of Ed, I struggle even more with colors when the lighting is low. In low light I start to screw up everything that is a dark shade- and I mean everything.
A blue chip would be cool, but I wonder how much they would get for it?

Yup, I had a high school art teacher insist that I was refusing "to learn" colors. But, the deficiency was recognized by the US Navy, as it kept me out of OCS.

In World War II, color blind pilots were recruited for low altitude bombing runs in smaller aircraft. They were not fooled by the camo used on military targets, since they used shapes and forms to identify objects, not colors. Same is true in the woods -- altho I see blaze orange quite well, I don't need it to tell the difference between a whitetail buck and a human.

I had the same teacher as well. Remember the books with the color dots they past around and everyone could see the numbers in the dots but you. But like ED god made up for it and gave me 10/10 vison in each eye.

What color do you guys use for the lens on your polarized sunglasses? I am also colorblind (Red/Green) and there has to be some lens that will allow me to see in the water better.

Any suggestions.

I have polarized prescription eyeglasses that are green. I'm not entirely happy with them, but they do cut glare.

I use a clip-on for shooting, and they are a yellowish, much lighter tint -- great for clarity, but not so great in cutting glare.

Has your tip up been in deeper water, shallower or the same? I’m hoping to get some iced this last weekend of the season. Devils Lake in ND is a good bet.

Catching a lot of them in 34 feet

Back on the Horseshoe chain I put in another 7 hours seeing zero pike yesterday.  I must be using the wrong decoys since I can draw in sunfish, crappies, bass, and catfish all day.  Finally caught a pike on a tip-up outside the house so at least I didn't get skunked again.  Looks like that will do it for spearing season unless I can figure out a North Dakota lake to try...

Quick report from last weekend: Fished a couple midlake reefs in big bay and the walleye seemed to be non existent aside from a few dinks, although, the action was pretty decent. Jumbo perch, tullibee, and a few crappie kept me busy. From hearing other people’s late season reports along with my experience last weekend it seems like a lot of the walleye have moved to different types of structure, perhaps shallower?? I’m not sure, but had very few marks that appeared to be walleye.

Agree Pike they new there Stuff bought a few guns there and great prices!

Anyone one of you guys ever use Dave Smith decoys?  They sure look realistic but wow come with a price. I like the avian X and I have a couple custom painted from a artist friend that look real good also.  Yes I  realize  a lot of people  don't use decoys. And I realize there is a time and situation for that  But I'm kind of a decoy junky lol! i rarely find my self going with out any.

I agree Ice Hawk. I liked Sportsmans seemed to have more people that actually fished and knew what they were talking about for help.

Great vid on my bucket list also. I always loved seeing those peacock fisherman throwing  those woodchoppers. Seems like a very aggressive fish I need to target someday
    • IceHawk
Bring a scoop of each and try a variety the fish will tell you what they are preferring.
