Heading up next week to fish black duck. New to the area. If it’s slow on Blackduck, are there any other lakes close by to hit up? Last year my two boys and myself finally got into the walleye by verticals jigging leeches off humps. Hope that works again, it was pretty cocsistant for a few days. A lot of short ones in there, but enough keepers to eat too.

Lots of options close by Blackduck.  It's about 40 minutes to Red Lake.  Lots of smaller lakes within 20 minutes including some awesome panfish lakes.

There are some sleepers of you are willing to do an adventure.  But some easier access lakes that have good panfish populations close to Blackduck are Gilstad, Gull, Rabideau, Pimushe and Turtle River.  Several of these have special regs for gills.

How is the ice looking on Blackduck and other area lakes?

Anyone out ice fishing?

I'll be up staying at the Drake in a couple weeks, was wondering if anyone has any pointers for fishing Blackduck. Is there much of a weed bite? From what I've read it appears to be mainly an evening bite? Any tips would be greatly appreciated.
