Sag map info please?

I am planning a little trip up to big Sag this June and am having a really hard time finding a good contour map of the lake. Can someone please help me and let me know where i can order one, or something? I was able to order a good detailed section of just Red Rock Bay, but that was it. thank you very much for any help.

I assume you have looked at the one on MN DNR Lake finder and not found it unusable. But if not try this. Map

Lakemaps Inc makes the samll white plastic maps and has a set of 4 for Sag

Thanks, upnorth, but the map doesn't show the whole lake, and that's what we're looking for.

redhooks, I don't like those plastic maps because the scale is usually such that the fine points are eliminated, but that may be all there is.

A buddy of mine got one about a month ago at Gender Mtn. It is made by Lake Maps but a much larger scale--the detail is pretty good. He said that it was the last one but maybe they re-ordered.

I got the last one at Gander in Duluth, buried in their map section, faded, and had been there a while. It was made by the same company that makes the white cards and produced in 1996.

It shows the entire lake including Canadian side, with depth contours. I tried finding it on the web, but maybe they don't make it anymore. I too was looking for a good map for quite some time...best $3.99 for a map I've spent.

stfcatfish--I don't know the original size of the map though as he brought in a copy that he had blown up to 11"X17". We are also planning a laker/walleye trip up there in late July. We'll probably be down in the Red Rock/Munker Island area but we still wanted a map of the entire lake. Looking at it the map looks decent--rock piles marked, breaks/points, 10' contours. It will definitely be better than nothing!

Just thought of this and checked W.A Fisher maps. I am looking at what looks to be a full map

Let me correct myself--the name of the store is not "Gender" Mtn but Gander Mtn I was just informed that perhaps I was being a little bit of a sexist pig But I don't know--I didn't state the "gender" being male or female!!

Worst case- You can buy the white cards and the cheesy folout version at Bucks and Holiday gas in Grand Marais before heading up the trail.

Frank, the Lake Maps map already mentioned that was the last faded one at Gander is the only contour map I've seen of the whole lake. I've now seen a copy of it. It's definitely workable.

Question is, is Lake Maps still making them?

They may still have them. Could be a phone call is in order to see, or if they don't have them, maybe they have plans to produce them again.

It'd be a simple matter of making a new printing press run since they've already produced them.

I've never fished Sag but have a permit for the end of July.

Well, I'm still hoping I'll get up there. Won't be this ice season, as I'm busy through Sunday. And my boat is too big for the motor restrictions.

The paper copy of the entire map from the lakemaps folks is the only one I have ever found. It has good contours for the entire lake, and is "fairly" accurate.

When I was through Grand Marais a few weeks ago, they still had them at Bucks and at the Holiday station.

Frank, I will be up there this weekend, let me know if you want me to pick one up for ya. I can drop it off at the FM gear swap in April. (Same offer to anyone else who is interested...)

Also, these folks are usually at the spring sports show in Minneapolis, I believe you can get the Sag map from them there, or at least talk to them and check availability.
