flooded out

3 posts in this topic

I fish dam 15-17 all winter but now the flood has put a halt to that. Thinking about coming up to 4 for the weekend and could use some help on what ramps, close tackle shops and what side of the river to launch on. Also wondering if the cold weather ever freezes your boat access closed. Hopefully up there for the weekend and thanks for any help.

Right now Everts Resort is the only place to launch. Dean will set you up with the hot bait. I can't say enough about his Ringers he has been talking me into. They have clearly put the most fish in my boat so far.

Thanks for the info Mike. I will certainly try some of the ringers and see how they do down here on some of these southern eyes. I'll be up there Saturday morning to brave some of the cold and hopefully some of the eyes.

Most of our fish came on minnows under bobbers. I spooked countless fish with even subtle jigging.

I never made it out Monday was too tired from fishing Friday - sunday didn't feel like getting up early

Hey, Here a quick update on actual ice thickness or snow cover on trout. 14 inchs of ice pressure ridge out there. if you are  on a snowmobile if traveling fast on it watch for it. Truck or car i do not recommend on trout with pressure ridge. And yes i have been on the whitefish chain this year in truck. just not on trout. just my 2 cents

Thanks for the info everyone. And Borch that is good to know too.  I try to spend 2-3 hours looking on cedar each trip, but It's a lot of water to break down , and having only been out hardwater cattin 6 times so far I still have a lot to learn.  Generally I spend a lot of my 3 hours losing confidence and then wind up at the meth hole to catch a few .  Putting in the work is what makes it so fun once it all comes together though!
