5 posts in this topic

hi guys well me and 3 of my buddys are going up to LOW and we are planning on taking portables out, and my question is what do you guys think would be a better vehicle to take up? a huge 2 wheel drive van or a extended cab 4 wheel drive pickup? we want to take the van cause it has more room but will it get around on the lake alright? I dont want to get stuck, are the roads alright up there? thanks SRK

The roads will be fine. Off road would be tough even with

the 4 wheel drive.

If the wind dosent blow \:D the van will be fine, but if the wind blows and you don't keep your eye on the roads you could end up needing a bomber to get back.

Two days ago the only thing moving off the roads were the bombers and snow mobiles.

Wow that is a little discouraging. Looked at the DNR lake info for the last survey which was done on Big Trout lake in 2011. Not one Laker was caught in any of the test net types! Still shows their stocking them but none showed up. Anyone try it on opener and find any Lakers?

Anyone go out there last weekend for opener? If so how was the ice and the bite? Giving this weekend a thought?

I personally like the cold and dont mind it. But this week is a nice change and prob wont help the ice building much!

I remembered I wrote this question. So I'm replying back. I was lucky enough to have a relative who had a Smith and Wesson Model 66-2 .357 mag (mint condition) that he was willing to part with. I haven't shot it yet. Been busy. Anyway now what recommendations are out there for 38 shells for plinking. I've read about the problems if using to heavy a load. Thanks
