Kids Perch Derby

6 posts in this topic

I don't know how many people were at the derby today but dang...it was a heck of a turnout. And what was with the snow??? Started snowing as soon as we got out there and stopped falling as soon as the derby was over. But hopefully it was a great day for everyone, was for me and my boys, although I may need an Advil in the morning after punching all those holes this morning. crazy.gif

I had the pleasure of meeting Beef and Matt, couple of really good guys.

My boys didn't catch anything but I think that was due to Woodman asking us to move over by him... whistle.gif But they won some door prizes and had a blast. Last I heard there was only about a dozen fish caught???

Hope everyone else had a good time.

Buck

Well I was marking lots of fish when we were setting our depths, so I thought it would have been a great place with the weeds close by! Thanks BEEF! cry.gif Good day and only a few crying kids with snow balls to the face! crazy.gif

Advil, I was taking Tylenol before I left the house and as soon as I got home to pick everybody up and then again when I got home from the event. Then on the wheeler to plow and now on here. What a great way to end the weekend! grin.gif

I think a total of 12 or so perch caught... I tried Woodman to put you on the spot, but it must be the dad not the guide this time grin.gifgrin.gif..... Thanks to all who helped drill about 1300 holes.... To bad the snow and wind had to pick up.... It seemed all the kids were having a blast and thats what counts the most... Took me about three hours to thaw out... BURR!!!!

With warmer weather coming hopefully so will the reports.   I've been watching the bay and it seems like things are breaking up out there so I'm anticipating getting out in the next two weeks on the big lake.   Boat is ready. Just need a place to launch. Anybody been to McQuade the last few days?

I thought Archery is not restricted correct me if I am wrong   Licenses for the Spring Turkey Hunts are awarded in a computerized preference drawing for the A-B time periods. C-F time period licenses can be purchased over the counter in mid-March. Turkey hunters, other than licensed archery hunters and youth are restricted to the WILD TURKEY PERMIT AREA and TIME PERIOD selected at time of purchase

That wasn't the size of lake I expected to be safe, but still.    500 ft from shore and they got a ladder to him?  Well, I'm glad he made it out safe.  Either way, thanks to the man above looking after.    I'm surprised the media didn't blow this one out of proportion.

The only reason they allow you to have a gun while archery hunting deer is if you have a ccw. They did this because if they didn't it would impede on your rights to carry.   Thank you for contacting the Minnesota DNR.   You are correct, your friend is not. Even having both licenses, a person can't have both weapons with them at the same time. That person would need to choose which weapon and license to use, can’t do both hunts with both weapons at the same time.   Please feel free to contact us if you have further questions either by email or by calling 888-646-6367 M-F 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. and on Saturday 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
