Minnesota Fishing Report Clubs - ONLY 20 FREE MEMBERSHIPS Per Area - Join Today - FREE   03/08/2018

Fishing Minnesota has added a new menu item (see above) called Fishing Report Clubs. It's a way to keep the really good fishing reports coming and being shared only with those who also provide detailed fishing reports. We will only approve new members who request to join if they have already posted a recent fishing report in the area forum, associated with the Fishing Report Club area  you want to join. Initially we are going to limit the number of regular memberships, in the Fishing Report Clubs, to the top 20 members in each Club, to those with the best frequency and quality fishing reports provided in the club and less so in the regular fishing report forum open to all members. The higher quality fishing report reserved for the club of course. If  you want see detailed fishing reports/tips  around your area and will share your detailed fishing report as soon as you join, then Join Now! Some of the clubs are starting to fill fast. Use the Fishing Reports Club link in the Menu above (after you've posted a fishing report in the regular area forum) and request to Join.

A Fun night near Perham

Recommended Posts

Had to visit the "outlaws" so we hit some lakes to the east.

After looking at a couple of lakes in the Perham area -- we decided on Big Pine.

We had a couple of "beverages" along so at least a guy could chit-chat and have a beer if the fish were not biting.

Nobody was on the lake -- looks like I was going to have to get thirsty.

But at 6 pm I marked a fish at the bottom in 32 fow. I coaxed hit up for a hit and it was an 11-inch crappie -- which ended up being the smallest of the evening. We had constant action and caught 11 crappies with two of them being 15 inches. Most of the rest were 13-14.

That was the MOST fun I have had fishing all year.

Pine CAN be a good crappie lake but also can be BAD news.

This time it was awesome.

I read somewhere a large bow fishing pressure has removed tons of common carp/buffalo from the lakes so much so the avg size of carp has drastically fallen, in other lakes in my research (bass lakes in the south)  some bass year classes have become malnourished since the heavy bow fishing pressure, starting in about 2012 on...granted these are man made lakes with few spawning wetlands, but bait fish populations are up yet the fish show classic big head small bodies consistent with malnourishment, some biologists blame catch and release  for too many bass, yet the baitfish survey suggests plenty of food (thread fin and gizzard shad) Common carp are surprisingly nutritious, more so than even rainbow trout, we see the effect of bass that feed on trout in western lakes.  carp eggs and larva are very tiny and seem to be a significant prey item, at least in areas the year 0 fish can't hide in winter killed wetlands before they migrate back into the main lake areas. water clarity is mentioned to be up and that can happen when carp get removed, its mentioned walleyes do better in water a little less clear?
