Matt and I fished Madison Wed. evening. One of our other employees was also out there. What a night! The crappies are active and biting. We didn't limit out, but got 6-8 really nice ones. Our employee had two limits (he fished with a buddy so he was legal). We fished Church bar. Used bobbers and jigging. The interesting thing we found is that most of the hungry ones were around 6-8' in 14' of water.

So the ice is definitely good and so is the bite.

Higher and higher in the water column. It's a nice sign of things to come. Nice work gang!

Perhaps I realize your frustration but our forum sponsor does not post often so when they do, the information is going to be exact.

If anyone from the forum is interested in where, stop on in, tell you they are from FM, grab some bait, and you'll point them in the right direction.

We are all here to learn and find spots to fish if this helps a young man take his son out and catch some fish then great. To be upset about a fishermen posting the spot he caught some fish is kind of screwed up. I am willing to bet the young man in your photo some day will be asking a old timer about a spot he fished in, or a spot he has had luck. As you did at some time. I did not have a form like this to help me when I was a young lad sure wish I had, it would have taught me a lot.

As for T.O. I think he guides and it would cost him money if he put you on every spot he fishes.

I'm on the Pro Staff and a moderator in multiple forums on FM but not a sponsor.

As far as spot identification, I used to do the same but got so much flack I stopped doing it. Now, I just put up a report and/or information with enough detail that could possibly improve someone else's chances to catch fish that is struggling, for someone to compare notes who may be catching fish another way but looking to try something else or someone visiting the area or on vacation and looking for starting points.

And I must say you do a heck of a job T.O.

Thanks for all your help in the past and for the future

I am basically new to the area so the help is very very nice to have. I must also admit that T.O. has given me some pretty exact spots and what kinds of baits are working, so I think you can say he does do this. You just have to ask the right way. Besides, I have been fishing as long as I can remember, and it seems to me that there are more and bigger fish, not just more anglers. And thats just the last 30 years or so. Just my 2 cents worth.................Todd

mrwalleyee, I am sure you are the only person on that exact location. I think the information shared on this site is great.

T O, I know you stopped posting specific spots. I also understand that you are willing to help out others. You are smart about it though. You take care of it with emails and phone calls.

This is a great informational site.

I know quite a few guys that just find more spots with a better or just as good a bite going. Seems to me they just worked "smarter" than you? We have all had a good spot just end up being the local hang out, thats just the way things go.

And thats great, just try to see the other guys point of view before you chew him out. I sure can't say I have been a saint on the site! I just don't think the guy did anything wrong, from what I see he was just trying to make a living. The more the fish bite, the more bait he sells, makes a lot of sense to me, if I was in his shoes..... \:\)

I'm sitting at the computer laughing over this conversation, this is one of those topics that gets brought up quite a bit, the reality is there is nothing a person can do about the way another member chooses to share ideas, information, spots, lakes, etc. on this site,

I'm not a fan of posting spots or even lakes for that matter, unless it's a large enough body of water such as Mille Lacs, then I would say the lake I was on.

However I can say that this site is not the only avenue of information to find spots, people talk. It's how we communicate, I for one look at this site alot, I find an enormous amount of great information, some share more, some less, the one thing I have never done though is log on, look to see where the bite is and drive out there to hoop em. I don't even see the fun in that. As far as that location is concerned, I hate to say it but everyone knows about that spot and it gets hit regardless of a post on here. Ask anyone who fishes out there and that location is on there top five to try everytime out. Unless they hit em at another spot before they get there.

The other thing is, there crappies, they reproduce naturally in the lakes around here and theres been a great crappie bite going on all winter on all of the more targeted lakes, German,Jefferson,Francis,Tetonka,Duck,Madison,Washington the list goes on. Pick your lake and your going to find the crappies, there not a tough fish to locate in our area, finding the right color or bait, to get constant action might be a different scenario.

For me personally it doesn't really matter if our forumn sponsor Reel Fishing chooses to post a spot on a crappie bite they got into, those guys are great and if you stop in there and ask where to fish on Madison, well there going to tell you that spot to try everytime. You might be suprised at how many people don't even know about this site, next time your out there ask around, I'd put my money they didn't go online, point click and drive to the spot.

Nice post Bigeye. Truth is there are probably 25 other spots on the lake that have a better bite going right now anyway. Like Bigeye also mentioned---pick any lake around here and the same holds true for them as well.

Defending to a point only knowing full well Joe and Matt don't have the time I do to handle such things through an e-mail or a phone call. They are busy at the store and when they do get the chance to get out, the type of information they share is going to go beyond typical detail in most cases.

All,

Please stop the "banter" back and forth. I got up to go fishing this morning and saw this and instantly thought we're supposed to be "having more fun". Let's get back to that. Thank you.

Well said Jamison. Now lets end this tread and head for the water. I'll be on the St.Croix in 45 minutes and hopefully everyone else will be at their fishing spot too.
