Any FMrs gonna fish Gunflint this weekend???

I was hoping to be able to meet a few of you guys this weekend up there that would be pretty cool. If you go to lodge and ask for the Latzke cabin you could hunt me down that way or otherwise we will have a Clam Yukon on the lake.

Are you able to drive a truck out on Gunflint or is the snow too deep cause as far as I know they dont plow roads out there.

No plowed roads. I always bring a sled and rely on that to get around so I've never driven a truck on the ice up there. Most years theres a North South pressure ridge in the same area that pretty much cuts the lake in two. Thats another reason I don't drive the truck.

Sounds like sleds to me. I will not be there but take a sled with just in case. Well good luck to you all and have fun.

I believe that one in Monticello closed down

Most of our fish came on minnows under bobbers. I spooked countless fish with even subtle jigging.

I never made it out Monday was too tired from fishing Friday - sunday didn't feel like getting up early

Hey, Here a quick update on actual ice thickness or snow cover on trout. 14 inchs of ice pressure ridge out there. if you are  on a snowmobile if traveling fast on it watch for it. Truck or car i do not recommend on trout with pressure ridge. And yes i have been on the whitefish chain this year in truck. just not on trout. just my 2 cents
