Boar, mine is out that way too in about 30' north of the islands. Plan on heading up tomorrow. I haven't been there since the big blow a couple weekends ago so may have to do some digging. I'll post on Thursday eve when I get back. If you happen to be up there--the ugliest house on the lake with a silver Tundra sitting by it.

Good luck.

Boar, I was probably just a bit in from you. There were four campers quite near. I had a 6x8 with wheels and an aluminum topper--real ugly. There was a decent bite yesterday when we got there from about 2:30 - 5. Couple of big perch, couple nice eyes and sauger and a 20" football. Pulled the house in to shore this morning--flu, cold or some kind of [PoorWordUsage] coming on. Roads are good.

Good luck.

I have a few different rods. The one i was originally referring to i am using for crankbaits.  i have a jig and worm rod as well. I have mastered the cast, just trying to learn more about leaders. Thanks! Do you recommend i use 17# test for my worm and jig rod?

As far as I know walleyes are native to almost every lake that they are found in up north. Cliff

How do you fish for the cats on open water?

Interesting point, BT.  I think our houses caught one perch this year, and I can't say that I knowingly marked one small one (except for when I was down in the bays on the south side).  I have no doubt that they are still in the lake, but I just ain't seeing any.

Are walleyes even native to vermilion? Pretty much every lake in northeast Minnesota had walleyes introduced to them in the last 50 to 100 years. If walleyes weren't native to vermilion, saugers certainly wouldn't have been native either. Sauger numbers seem to shrink the farther east each lake gets from Rainy Lake.
