Two Questions about 2001 Chevy

5 posts in this topic

My first question is i have had a problem with my check engine light coming on in third gear and also when ever i use my tow haul button when the light comes on it only blinks at me but it rarely stays on. I had my buddy hood it up to his tester and it said random cylinder misfire what could this be and what kind of fix would it take.

My second question is I have been looking at getting some of those plastic bed rail covers. Just wondering if you are able to put a topper on when after you install these. Also what are some good brands?

Thanks

How many miles?

I would guess its a 5.3?

How many times has it done it?

Have you felt it run ruff?

Does it happen after a could start or after you have driven for a while, or is it completely random?

Have you noticed any other symptoms, ruff idle, extended crank, even worse fuel economy?

Was the "tester" a scan tool or a code reader. If it was a code reader they can be misleading. I have had mine display incorrect codes and/or not display codes at all.

I would definitely get a scan tool on it. The scan tool will be able to show you all the codes and if there is a true misfire you will be able to see the misfire history for each cylinder. This will help narrow down the possibilities.

Last year it was Dec. 26th before they opened the road up out of Morris pt. for 4 wheelers. Thinking its looking like that again this year. Hope I can hold out. Between the ice show and this website getting very fired up.

Yep. I'm on Schultz's Bay. Which side are you on?   Had to head in to Alex today around noon so I took a little side trip to Manthey's Bay because that is typically the first area that has walkable ice. Stood at the 145th Ave access. To the right was all open water, straight out was ice for maybe 30 feet and then open water and that extended to the left into Manthey's Bay for a ways. The rest of the Bay looked frozen over from what I could see from there. Nothing anywhere on the lake looks like it would be walkable yet. Lots of ice on the lake and still making more. The winds have been keeping small pockets of water open scattered through out the ice that has formed so the ice thickness is going to be very inconsistent for a while. The winds have started to die down so with calmer winds I would think the lake might lock up in the next day or two. Just so the snow stays away for Saturday.

Picked up my first custom rod, a TUCR power noodle, the new black Betty free fall and plenty of tungstens!
