Fishing Queen

Feb17 thru 19 report

2 posts in this topic

Well it was a tuff bite for the Fishing Queen. I took my annual trip with my buddies last weekend. I just want to say thanks to Kelly and Jonny P for another great trip. The fishing was great the catching was poor. I caught the most fish we had 8 people caught 9 eyes and 4 crappies. I caught 6 of the eyes and 3 of the crappies. Don't feel bad for my buddies they took all my money in poker cry.gifWe were marking fish just could not get them to bite. Green glow plain hooks seem to be the winner. I caught a few eyes on a red glow demon. The rattle whell I was using the green hook caught the most. I was fishing it about a foot off bottom. All in all it was a great trip. I think we had a record for things dropped down the hole. Thanks again to Jonny for the magnet it retreived all lost items. grin.gifAgain great time had by all I am planning on going up later in March to track down a few crappies. Take care all good luck on Red

That would be unfortunate if it was shut down. But I wouldn't blame the property owners if they did, as I wouldn't like my property getting trashed either. My oldest daughter, and son, both caught their first rainbow trout out of there 2 years ago, and it's always a must stop on our way to Grand Marais. How is it possible that the river itself is private property?

For anyone that's interested, the docks were not in on the east side of Island as of Saturday. It was nice to see the lake a little higher than it normally is this time of year but the water was still way too cold for much crappie action - at least where I was fishing. Lots of logs and debris floating around in the middle of the lake so pay attention out there!

thanks everyone for the input, we have decided to drive and take our own kayaks for the convenience. plus we can carry more tackle.

Thanks. So it hasn't changed much then. Still might go give it a whirl!

If you haven't read it yet, a couple of slobs are about to ruin it for the rest of us. Pick up your garbage and respect private property. The land owners who allow access to the lower sucker river are about to shut it down because they are so fed up with it.
