Yes sir... coming along very nicely!!! Way to go. Always nice to mix in those obedience drills when working on retrieving.

Surprisingly I used the down command (by hand signal) several times when out goose hunting. If my dog was on a long retrieve and another flock would begin to commit to the spread. I'd hit the whistle for a 'sit' and then a down hand signal was given and we'd work the geese all the while she was steady.

Keep it up! Looks like you got a good one there...

Good Luck!

Ken

Thats awesome. Good looking dog!

I wish I had that much space to play fetch. The neighbors in my townhome association get mad when I run across their yard.

Ya notice I'm 3 steps away from garage door, as is was COLD..

It is nice having a lot of room, wish I had MORE water.

Labs4me- I'm working on the whistle sit, he's been doing some doubles and triples, but none to any difficulty.

He will lay under a giant goose shell with head down, but I chose to use hide, I know confusing when I could get by with a one word command meaning 2 useful actions,, BUT I screwed that one up. Seems to alway want to go retieve the last dummy thrown ALWAYS, even when I sheild him, and poit him to opposite, He's got me figured out, heads out like he's going to go where I instructed, but then hooks and heads to last,, I can yell, NO he will return and then he goes where I want, it's like he's teting me,,,,lol Fun stuff though, just a blast..

Fun to see the excitement of a young dog and snap quick responces to your commands. My old man's rope isn't pulled that tight anymore. :-)

Small minnow raps, #2 mepps spinners, small spoons. Don't need anything else.

What a great day jigging out in the mud. Little or no wind all day and it was pretty warm but fish were active, biting and large. A big change came yesterday on my close by spots that threw me for a loop but the fish a few miles away seem unphased. I will say it again a great day!

In the summer they seem to be about 20' feet down over 50'-80' feet of water. We trolled small raps with what ever would get it down there. I also had down riggers to use.  You could try some deep hook and slip bobbers with a worm in some of the deeper bays to see if they will take it?  Good luck.

I have a bait/rigging question. The kids and I were out on Big Watab chasing a suntan and when I told them that the lake has trout they wanted to try for them but I mostly fish sunnies and crappies. What would I need to get to fish for trout out there? Looking back in the forums I see that some guys use leadcore (I'm not buying new rod/reels) and some use bobbers. Any advice on a common bobber set up? Also, I have an "active" 10 year old so it seems that jigging works best to keep him busy, any advice on jigging for trout?

Update! Water is way down! But I was able to get a smallmouth with a topwater plug.  And a catfish broke my leader off a  worm, was very confused. Going again tomorrow
