Where abouts where you fishing, in the bayport area? I meant to get out yesterday but didnt make it. I want to soon. Ive always fished right around the outside of the "shantytown" and done well even though i hear a lot of complaints about it. Thats where i caught my biggest crappie ever, 14inches. I will be out there soon, and be sure to post how i do

Hey, Here a quick update on actual ice thickness or snow cover on trout. 14 inchs of ice pressure ridge out there. if you are  on a snowmobile if traveling fast on it watch for it. Truck or car i do not recommend on trout with pressure ridge. And yes i have been on the whitefish chain this year in truck. just not on trout. just my 2 cents

Thanks for the info everyone. And Borch that is good to know too.  I try to spend 2-3 hours looking on cedar each trip, but It's a lot of water to break down , and having only been out hardwater cattin 6 times so far I still have a lot to learn.  Generally I spend a lot of my 3 hours losing confidence and then wind up at the meth hole to catch a few .  Putting in the work is what makes it so fun once it all comes together though!
