Members Only Fluid Forum View   08/08/2017

Fluid forum view allows members only to get right to the meat of this community; the topics. You can toggle between your preferred forum view just below to the left on the main forum entrance. You will see three icons. Try them out and see what you prefer.   Fluid view allows you, if you are a signed up member, to see the newest topic posts in either all forums (select none or all) or in just your favorite forums (select the ones you want to see when you come to Fishing Minnesota). It keeps and in real time with respect to Topic posts and lets YOU SELECT YOUR FAVORITE FORUMS. It can make things fun and easy. This is especially true for less experienced visitors raised on social media. If you, as a members want more specific topics, you can even select a single forum to view. Let us take a look at fluid view in action. We will then break it down and explain how it works in more detail.   The video shows the topic list and the forum filter box. As you can see, it is easy to change the topic list by changing the selected forums. This view replaces the traditional list of categories and forums.   Of course, members only can change the view to better suit your way of browsing.   You will notice a “grid” option. We have moved the grid forum theme setting into the main forum settings. This makes it an option for members only to choose. This screenshot also shows the removal of the forum breadcrumb in fluid view mode. Fluid view remembers your last forum selection so you don’t lose your place when you go back to the listing. The benefit of this feature is easy to see. It removes a potential barrier of entry for members only. It puts the spotlight on topics themselves, and not the hierarchical forum structure. You as a member will enjoy viewing many forums at once and switching between them without leaving the page. We hope that fluid view, the new functionality is an asset that you enjoy .

If you are looking for a resort click on Resort Locator above. If you are portable check the posts for the past few weeks. Zipple Bay, Long Point, Arnesons, Wheelers Point pine island. All are good spots and you should definitley catch some fish. good luck and hang on. Bill

It should be time well spent reading the different threads

pertaining to recent fishing. It will answer most of your

questions and give you information you would'nt have thought

to ask for.

When the weather settles down some fishing is pretty good and

it should just keep getting better. Are you staying at a

resort? or going it alone?

I might be at a resort. I don't know yet. Then again we might rent a sleeper. So I don't know. So what do I use for bait, and what type of jigs and colors? I can't wait.

If you are in a sleeper out of a resort or staying at a resort most times they supply the bait shiners and fatheads. If you are thinking about a weekend you might want to reserve now. Check out Fiskyknut's post on things to do on the big pond Fisky's post and this one Fisky's other post they will tell you all about lures, colors and sizes.

Thanks for all the info. We are going to go out of Reel guides or something reel. I don't think they know where to set up at though. I have heard that the past years some friends of mine went up there and tryed for three days and only caught 7 walleyes. So I kind of wanna key my options open. I should bring my portable just in case.

They will probably have you out on and around the 5mile reef area. Fishing has been decent out there. It is about the toughest time of the winter season these days.....the dregs of winter eh!

They haul you via track vehicle so you may wanna get ahold of them to see iffin they'll have room and let you haul a portsable out???

Last week I was out there and did okay 1 day and great the next.

No not yesterday. 2 weeks ago when we had that first cold spell I went out on Baxter, Blue and Long and checked the ice. They were locked up but only had 1-2" inches so didn't venture out too far. Baxter probably was walkable but had open water on the back end so figured I stay off. Last Sunday I went and checked them out after that warm rainy week we had and they had open water, so yesterday I skipped checking them and went farther north. But I did notice most lakes were locked up on the drive up there. Cant wait for the local lakes to get some decent ice!

Wondering if big sandy is clear enough to spear fish when the ice comes on? Never done it before and would like to give it a try

Bryan did you check any lakes around me?

Had to scratch the ice fishing itch, so I drove up north to the Mille Lacs lake area and found a smaller lake with 4-5" of ice. Punch a few holes and found some crappies and sunnies. Nothing big but was fun time and a great way to start my ice seaso n! Bring on the ice!  Check out the video: https://youtu.be/BTTv_G07PB8
