winnie report

1 post in this topic

The fronts seem to be creating havoc with the angling on Big Winnie and most of the lakes in the area. It's been tough and getting around, other than on plowed roads has also been a little difficult. The high winds and cold temperatures have kept many fisherman off the lakes. Big Winnie has still been kicking out a few perch for those who are braving the elements to get after them Forage Minnow Spoons and gold Swedish Pimples have worked the best and the perch seem to be favoring the 26-30 foot depths, which should improve as Spring approaches. A few anglers are reporting mixed results on northern pike and there doesn't seem to be a preferred depth. There have been pike taken in 10 feet around old weed beds and pike caught on tip-ups in 25 to 30 feet. I think when the weather gets a little more stable things will improve. Remember that the season comes to an end on February 24th for walleyes, pike, and bass, until the openers in the Spring. There have been very few anglers on Big Cutfoot for crappies and gills and again as soon as the weather is a little more consistent, things will improve. In the next two months the sport shows will be coming to nearly everyone's community in Minnesota. Stop in and see what's new in the fishing equipment, boating and outdoor seminars that are always informative. With Winter winding down it's a great place to start thinking about the up coming 2008 fishing season.

You are paying for it one way or another it is worked in the rental fee or you pay at the road I guess its a matter of preference. Places I go at milacs always had the road pass "included" I think when I rented from up north rental on red I had to buy a pass going out of rogers.   Beacon Harbor it was included

Fun day today fishing with Rick G and Jim Uran. Caught a lot of fish and we kept some nice ones for the tummy   Rick got biggest at 12 3/8.  And we got into some neat looking party crappies also. LOL  @Rick G  @Jim Uran   Hopped in the shower as soon as I got home to warm my wet arse up. Sleet and snowy day. Enjoying a glass of Pinot Noir right now and fish fry time Thursday night. THX for the maple syrup Jim ! !

I went out of fish lake and with my leg,  found a hole just a bit smaller than a man hole, right in the middle of a well traveled and plowed road. I Informed the folks at the high banks about it so hope they marked it. I also found several other holes from old holes widened to around 12". Im done driving for the year. If I had a house out there I would be getting it off ASAP.
