Members Only Fluid Forum View   08/08/2017

Fluid forum view allows members only to get right to the meat of this community; the topics. You can toggle between your preferred forum view just below to the left on the main forum entrance. You will see three icons. Try them out and see what you prefer.   Fluid view allows you, if you are a signed up member, to see the newest topic posts in either all forums (select none or all) or in just your favorite forums (select the ones you want to see when you come to Fishing Minnesota). It keeps and in real time with respect to Topic posts and lets YOU SELECT YOUR FAVORITE FORUMS. It can make things fun and easy. This is especially true for less experienced visitors raised on social media. If you, as a members want more specific topics, you can even select a single forum to view. Let us take a look at fluid view in action. We will then break it down and explain how it works in more detail.   The video shows the topic list and the forum filter box. As you can see, it is easy to change the topic list by changing the selected forums. This view replaces the traditional list of categories and forums.   Of course, members only can change the view to better suit your way of browsing.   You will notice a “grid” option. We have moved the grid forum theme setting into the main forum settings. This makes it an option for members only to choose. This screenshot also shows the removal of the forum breadcrumb in fluid view mode. Fluid view remembers your last forum selection so you don’t lose your place when you go back to the listing. The benefit of this feature is easy to see. It removes a potential barrier of entry for members only. It puts the spotlight on topics themselves, and not the hierarchical forum structure. You as a member will enjoy viewing many forums at once and switching between them without leaving the page. We hope that fluid view, the new functionality is an asset that you enjoy .

buzzin for bass

I am planning a family vacation, four adults and two children (at the time of the trip the children will be under 9 months so activities for the kids isn't really an issue). I am thinking about booking my first stay at Fox Lake Resort and am looking for some input from people who have stayed there or fished on Fox Lake. The other main contender at this point would be Spider Lake Resort (I've never stayed there before, but heard good things and have fished the lake many times). The first obvious difference as an angler is the availability of Muskies on Spider, but it sounds like Fox would offer a little more peace and quite. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Buzzin,

Fox lake is a great lake and is pretty quiet. Some pig slimmers roam that one. Your chioce of Spider for Muskies is decent. The good thing about this area is the lakes around you produce some big fish. I am pretty bias when it comes to refering resorts as we own one but I think you will be happy with any resort in the Grand Rapids area! If you truly love the bass fishing, there are a bunch of quality lakes in that area. Have fun and good luck!!

We have been guests at Spider Shores for the last 8 years and some in our group have been there for 30 plus years. Last Sept we caught our biggest walleyes 6.5 and 9.0 lbs. We always do well on crappies, bass, and althought we don't fish for muskie on numerous occasions they have chased our largemouth bass back to the boat as we pulled them in. John and family have upgraded the already very nice facilities. It is a quiet lake with very few homes on the coastline of the two lower portions of the lake. We will be there again in Sept. Eagle and loons are sometime our only company in Sept. We drive 750 miles to get there because we catch fish and are treated very well. Best Wishes for a great trip.

Eric, your bias is well deserved. As soon as the kids are a little older and can enjoy all the great things you guys offer North Star will be at the top of the list. Actually you got me my first musky several years ago out there in the south east bay and I've been hooked on those massive beasts ever since. I've been coming to the area for decades now and am quite familiar with a lot of those great little lakes, I've just never been on or talked to anyone about Fox. I'm just trying to determine if the added price (from Spider to Fox) is worth it for us this summer, my buddy who will be up with us has some leave from the army and will be back in the state for a couple of weeks. I'm just trying to maximize our time.

Never been to either resort mentioned, but if they don't work out try Williams Narrows resort on Cutfoot Sioux. Access to Winnibigoshish(muskies), Cutfoot has miles and miles of undeveloped shoreline. Great resort. Great people. Most of all, GREAT FISHING!

Yes, it was me with a buddy and there is a pic on your website with you and myself and a musky. Looks like we (my wife, new son, another couple and their new daughter) will be up June 21 through 28. If you're available during that time I would love to take advantage of that, the stories alone were well worth the money not to mention the musky. I've got to talk to the couple we're coming up with to figure things out, which may take a little bit cause he is in the army and is out on a training mission right now for a couple of weeks. Once I talk to him I'll be calling up there to get in touch with you, it'll be fun to see the new boat.

Can anyone report on fishing on Rainy River this week?
    • Tony S
Headed up this weekend for the first trip of the fall.  Thinking about fishing the lake with all the good reports from there, but has anybody been up to Clementson, Frontier or Birchdale  areas recently that could give a report?  Thanks.

Thanks for chiming in and sharing how the river has been treating you lately. They sure are fun to catch. I am hoping to get out again this weekend for some more smallie action. Hopefully they are still near where I was able to find them last weekend....

I fish pretty much exclusively above the Sartell dam.  I normally try to hit it 2-3 times per week.  Over the last 3 weeks, I thought the fishing was down right ridiculous(even with the crazy high water) at times, 12-20 fish in a hour or two before sunset.  I found them right up on the bank, and of course in slower moving water.  There are a few spots north of the dam that are great places for high water.  Some larger areas where the water can swirl around and create backwash.  In fact, I'll point my boat down right and put spot lock on, because the water is flowing back up river, and just cast parallel with the bank.  Most of the time I'll throw a Scatter rap, then when I see a fish chasing bait, I'll throw out a wacky rig.   I went out last weekend to a spot I've been hitting, and the fish have diminished big time.  Caught 6 in a couple hours.  Then I went out last night, and caught one walleye.   So, with that in mind I figured they had to of gone to the deeper rock piles.  And, sure enough, I caught 2 just before sunset, then I headed in.   If you have SI, just drive down or up river and look for large groups of rock piles.  Go up river from them, and try and do a controlled drift over the rocks.  I normally use a jig and a tube.  And there's no mistaken them when they hit.   Even a few eyes mixed in every once in a while.
