Access to Zumbro?

5 posts in this topic

I was going to make my first ever trip out to Zumbro tomorrow. I downloaded a lake map from the DNR web site but I don't see any public access. What is the best way to get on the lake?

There is a public ramp on the north end of the lake, right by the Ponderosa campground. That is the safest bet, as I have heard some reports of thinner ice on the south end near Fishermans Inn.

Is that thin ice as far as driving, or walking?

Thin ice across/south of fishermans. You might be able to walk, but I wouldn't drive.

You should be OK to drive north from fishermans to the Pondy ramp

I'll stand behind Steve's ice rods!   I was able to get a nice collection of them last week.  Some panfish rods that I hope to work out tomorrow, and some walleye/laker types that I used today.  Great feel, light, and well built.       I connected with a couple mid-20 inch lakers today and couldn't have enjoyed the fight any better on another rod.  Very happy!   Thanks Steve!
