I know there are some people netting and they are getting northerns but the size is more like 2 to 5 lbs.

if that is the case the action has picked up ALOT in the last 2 weeks. I was there 2 weeks ago and there were some guys netting....They were getting 1 fish per 100' of net out. That was daily. Not many fish there if that is all they were getting....

You know us fisherman, we tend to exaggerate a little!!! 1 turns to a few and a 2lb'r is always at least 5 lbs!!! Not saying they aren't gettin 'em though, wouldn't have a clue.

I have read that mercury levels are a reason there is no commercial harvest on vermilion. But it was probably the same thing you read as I have not found a second source of that. There is commercial harvest of rustys on other Minnesota lakes so there must be a reason it's not done here.    For or what it's worth, the DNR has suggestions on how much fish to eat because of mercury.
