Did I hear right,

Moss and Brady are skipping the Pro Bowl? Cry babies! Be a man and show up if you are honored enough to get picked. What is the worse thing that can happen, you spend a week in Hawaii and don't get into the game. You know if the Pats would have won the Super Bowl, thier mugs would have been all over Hawaii!

lots of players skip the pro bowl after playing in the super bowl. not just brady and moss.

the pro bowl is a joke anyways. turn it into a golf tourney or something worth watching.

Doesn't Brady have an injured ankle?? Moss who know's why he doesnt want to go. I saw Favre passed on the pro bowl also, Garcia is taking his place. I don't even bother watching the pro bowl.

Wild,

I guess I can give Brady a pass but why would he not announce it before the game? I guess he might not want to tip the fact that he was hurt but everybody knew that anyway. I think if I was honored by the selection I would show up, take a series of snaps, hand the ball off a few times and then stand on the sidelines and wave to the fans. This is one of the all star games that really drives me crazy with all the players declining to go. Moss though is another story....TOOL! Agreed?

All "all-popular" games are boring and pathetic. At least baseball means something and they try....basketball, hockey, and football are just pointless....last year at the pro bowl I think the biggest hit was on a punter......basketball no defense...and also hockey no d and no checking.......where is the intensity when they played hard in these games..i.e Pete Rose knocking over the catcher....Good stuff!!

I can see it both ways, I wouldn't want to see A.P blow his knee out because of a hard hit or Gaborik for the wild risk an injury because of check along the boards.

every team has people pulling out.

even those windy city bears: Lance Briggs, and Tommie Harris

didnt Brian Urlacher pull out last year right after the bears lost the super bowl?

So Sled,

You are saying that Moss is a stand up guy?

Rundrave,

Not sure about Urlacher but if he did then that would be wrong too! I just think that the attitude of the players reflects on the product on the field. I agree with whoever posted on this thread that said NFL Pro Bowl is the worst of the 4 major sports. If you don't think it is an honor to be elected then you should withdraw your name at the start of the season and say that you will not attend even if you are chosen. Then the fans could see who the real "stars" are.

Tommie Harris has been hurt all year with a nagging groin and hammy injury and just had surgery on his knee I believe.

As for Briggs, put yourself in his shoes. You are about to sign a contract somewhere that will be huge. Why in the world would you want to risk getting injured (Drew Brees) in a meaningless Pro Bowl and risk getting a huge payday. I would skip out as well. Now that I think about it, he did have an injury and didn't play in one of the last three or four games.

i think they are honored that they are selected.... but nobody wants to play in a meaningless boring game where they have a chance at getting hurt

His teammates seem to like him and his coach has nothing good to say about him. Since I dont know him personally I would say that based on what people who work with him say, Yes, he is a stand up guy and performs his job well.

98 rec. 1493 yards 23 TDs wow!

Yes, his current team seems to like him. And as long as things are going well he is likable. Ask the Raiders, or the Vikes that played with Randy when they were struggling. I think you would find a different opinion of the guy.

Thanks Fish,

My thought exactly but I will let Sled speak his mind.

Everybody is always a good winner, being a good loser and acting with class when things are not going your way is the mark of a true "stand up" guy. Like an old timer once said about touchdown celebrations....Act like you been there before. I think the coolest thing to do is when a guy just hands the ball to the ref and bolts to the sidelines to celebrate with his team! That's "stand up".

The should get the guys together and just have a fun competition...not a game. The Pro Bowl is a joke.

But still, it is an honor to be selected and you should go! If you don't go, it shows you have no class.

  • 4 weeks later...

actually moss was well liked in the locker room at minnesota...after he was traded for "being a distraction" they asked the players and they all said they liked him.

the fact is mccombs didn't want to sell the team leaving a superstar there with a chance to win.

remember moss leaving was supposed to help duncecaps i mean culpeppers progression...lmmfao

With the early ice out, how is the curlyleaf pondweed doing?

On the south end...   The big basin, otherwise known as Big Traverse Bay, is ice free.  Zippel Bay and Four Mile Bay are ice free as well.  Everything is shaping up nicely for the MN Fishing Opener on May 11th. With the walleye / sauger season currently closed, most anglers are targeting sturgeon and pike.  Some sturgeon anglers are fishing at the mouth of the Rainy River, but most sturgeon are targeted in Four Mile Bay or the Rainy River.  Hence, pike are the targeted species on the south shore and various bays currently.   Pike fishing this time of year is a unique opportunity, as LOW is border water with Canada, the pike season is open year round. The limit is 3 pike per day with one being able to be more than 40 inches. All fish 30 - 40 inches must be released. Back bays hold pike as they go through the various stages of the spawn.  Deadbait under a bobber, spinners, spoons and shallow diving crankbaits are all viable options.   Four Mile Bay, Bostic Bay and Zippel Bay are all small water and boats of various sizes work well. On the Rainy River...  Great news this week as we learned sturgeon will not be placed on the endangered species list by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.     The organization had to make a decision by June 30 and listing sturgeon could have ended sturgeon fishing.  Thankfully, after looking at the many success stories across the nation, including LOW and the Rainy River, sturgeon fishing and successful sturgeon management continues.   A good week sturgeon fishing on the Rainy River.  Speaking to some sturgeon aficionados, fishing will actually get even better as water temps rise.     Four Mile Bay at the mouth of the Rainy River near the Wheeler's Point Boat Ramp is still producing good numbers of fish, as are various holes along the 42 miles of navigable Rainy River from the mouth to Birchdale.   The sturgeon season continues through May 15th and resumes again July 1st.   Oct 1 - April 23, Catch and Release April 24 - May 7, Harvest Season May 8 - May 15, Catch and Release May 16 - June 30, Sturgeon Fishing Closed July 1 - Sep 30, Harvest Season If you fish during the sturgeon harvest season and you want to keep a sturgeon, you must purchase a sturgeon tag for $5 prior to fishing.    One sturgeon per calendar year (45 - 50" inclusive, or over 75"). Most sturgeon anglers are either a glob of crawlers or a combo of crawlers and frozen emerald shiners on a sturgeon rig, which is an 18" leader with a 4/0 circle hook combined with a no roll sinker.  Local bait shops have all of the gear and bait. Up at the NW Angle...  A few spots with rotten ice, but as a rule, most of the Angle is showing off open water.  In these parts, most are looking ahead to the MN Fishing Opener.  Based on late ice fishing success, it should be a good one.

Nice fish. I moved to the Sartell area last summer and just thought it was windy like this everyday up here? 🤭

Crazy windy again today.... This is has been the norm this spring. Between the wind and the cold fronts, fishing has been more challenging for me than most years.  Panfish have been moving in and out of the shallows quite a bit. One day they are up in the slop, the next they are out relating to cabbage or the newly sprouting lilly pads.  Today eye guy and I found them in 4-5 ft of water, hanging close to any tree branches that happened to be laying in the water.  Bigger fish were liking a 1/32 head and a Bobby Garland baby shad.   Highlight of the day way this healthy 15incher
