Thinking about trying 5 mile this weekend weather permitting. Any reports from that area?

I was out there on Saturday, did well. Caught a lot of really small saugers, and ended up keeping our limit of walleyes and 4 suager in three hours. I'm guessing we threw back at least 2 or 3 dozen really small ones

I've been fishing regular out there for a good 3 weeks now and on a very reliable mixed bag bite morning thru mid-day, and also a good Walleye bite late afternoons. I was out there yesterday for a bit and indeed those weeee Saugers are thick on there now. Most years it seems when they show up it signifies to me the bite out there is on the way down hill for the dregs of winter and I'm soon heading for the deep mud till March.

Won't be long now. I'm gonna give it another jiggle or 2 out on the Muskeg somewhere yet maybe. Though I know it's probably time to go. I have'nt fished deeper than 23fow all year but once at 26. I will soon again migrate! Slow down a bit too in February.. The dregs of winter.

Keep in touch.

So I decided to go to buffalo point/Whiskey flats area.....I'm glad I did! fished from 9am-1pm and caught my 8 fish limit of both walleye and sauger and 9 very nice perch. Threw back maybe 20 or so. Best day on the lake i've ever had!

I fished that area the last two weekends. Not much for keeper walleyes, but nice big perch. I did howver manage a personal best for walleye a 26". She is back in the lake to get bigger yet! Two of use ended up with 6 eyes and 8 perch all around 9-10". Week before 2 of us had 4 eyes and 13 perch.

I found fish on Friday like the old days it was a lot of fun but I decided not to deal with the slush and the sled on Sat.  I heard that may of been a good decision because I heard people burning out their sleds in the slush, running them wide open just to barely move.     Nothing like sledding in a rain storm, I guess to find them it has to be painful.

HI ... I was out on a Lake Saturday Morning and two guys I noticed were catching nice Crappies hole hopping with electronics of coarse.  Finally after a bit from a semi far distance (far enough to not be able to see color but know it was the vertical spoon ones) I asked what they were using as they were packing up.  "Forage minnows no bait" one said.   So my question/s is?   Has any one fished Crappies with these?  I am a pug bug plastics guy here for Pan fish.  What particular colors has anyone had success with?   I am assuming the smaller spoon but I see they come with treble hook and or single hook?   Bob

Thank you for the zip code, for the last 3 years I lose the tailgator reception at night around 8 I never know what zip code to try I sure hope it works.  All day everything is fine, evening comes I lose signal.

I used the thumbnail method with all but the heavier split rigs.  If you're doing a bunch it gets sore.  I then use a small eye glass screw driver.  Once I get it started to remove the old one I slip the new one in behind it.  One falls off and the other on.   Careful, those small trebles are hard to hang onto and sticky sharp.

really neat to see the lake from the aerial view!  Cool to see all the roads and the paths out there.  Kinda fun to look at the road systems and name what resort they are from...
