Any one fish this lake? I hear that there is an ice fishing contest out of McBee's on the 26th of january. I havent gotten a chance to fish it yet mabey ill get a chance next weekend. Hows the fish population and what species does everyone like to target on this lake?

Mostly panfish on this lake with a couple of walleyes. Water is very dirty since the river runs through it.

call it chcolate lake mabey coffee lake. Thats the color of the water. I was out there two weeks ago. did rather well I must say. Crappies ranged 8 to 12 inches. thats like 2 - 12 inch crappies out of mabey 30 caught. and the other 28.... all released were in the 9 inch range. The gills were small with the exception of one that pushed the ruler beyond 7 inches.

But it was a good day of catchin and releasing.

I believe it is the 49 bridge just a little south of there. Lots of ice chunks coming down.

I fished the river on Saturday and saw at least a dozen different full sized trucks going in and out of the bays and all over the Arrowhead Flats. Since then an F150 and several ATV's have gone through. Just like Big Country predicted, another one today. Under the Oliver Bridge an old timer on a 6 wheeler spent 30 minutes in the water before a passerby noticed him holding onto the ice. Please be safe, tell your friends, tell anyone who talks fishing. Any ice right now is sketchy

A buddy of mine was out fishing last night and some guy drilled a big spear hole in the ice and never marked it or out the ice back in the hole. My buddy told me the ice block wasn't even by the spear hole he almost fell in! Reminder to always mark your spear hole and keep a careful eye out to make sure you don't step in one!
