Correct, the lake is shallow. Not much for stucture. The Elk river goes through the lake, so the ice can vary in thickness. Be carefull where you go with vehicles, that is, if they are driving out. Avoid the inlet and outlet areas as the current is stronger there. Haven't been on the lake for about a month. Was out there at the end of Nov. and early Dec. and marked fish but they're finicky biters. Got one 30" northern first time out. Nothing since.

Can not say for sure, but there is parking outside of the park next to the boat ramp and also a turn a round road.

Is Stoney point access open to the public or just for camper access?

I purchased this exact boat last year just for Trout.  16ft Alumacraft, 25hp Yamaha, Helix 5 humminbird. This year I purchased a 50# thrust Minn Kota for the bow, I just haven't installed it yet.  Looking forward to it!

Cutbait is all I use for cats on the red. Cut goldeye, sucker and frogs are my go to baits. Typically a 4-6 oz no roll sinker with a foot leader or shorter. Cast it down current and wait. Caught a lot of cats that way. We actually caught eyes doing that too but not many. Haven't tried bait paste or anything like that but would imagine it would work
