Crosby Lake & Pickerel Lakes?

2 posts in this topic

I drive by Crosby (W of 35E great river road south of St. Paul) every day on my way to work, and this lake/backwater had a portable on it the other morning. Has anyone fished either of these lakes? Ever have luck? I would think that these small backwaters could hold decent pannies if they are deep enough...

I fished Picheral about a month ago, it is shallow with one hole in the lake, all i jigged waxies with a small jig, my buddie jigged a swidish pimple with a minnow. We also set tip ups up. No his on the tipups, and only very small sunnies jigging

I crossed over to the dark side of smallies about 15 years ago. Mostly chase pannies in winter but used to chase eyes a few times on the hard water each season.   I could post a ton of pics if you need more proof.

Sorry to make you hold up a bottom feeder, but we needed to see it!

I was up over the weekend and my shoreline was getting pretty sketchy.  Had a pocket of open water down the shore about a 100 yards. Where I could see the bottom in two to three feet of water.  Walked out about a hundred yards and popped four holes Saturday afternoon. There was 17- 18.5"s of ice in those four holes. Looking at the forecast I can't see the ice sticking around too much longer.  The holes I popped had 5-6" of pretty mushy cloudy stuff on top and about 12"s of pretty solid stuff underneath it.
