1/8 - 1/9 South End report

1 post in this topic

Seven of us fished out of JR's access on the 8th and 9th. The road was good with a couple of cracks closer to shore but nothing to bad. Ice was approximately 18 to 20". We fished some rough ice about 2 miles from the entrance. Fishing was slow but we managed to pick up enough eaters to have a good meal and a few to take home. The best bite was right after dusk and then from 12 to 2 am. Glow red seemed to be the trick. About half the fish we caught were in the slot 18-22". We did not pick up any Crappies though. Thanks to Chad B. for the nice accommodations.

I am looking at a new portable shelter this year. It would be ideal to get one that fits 3-4 people so I can take my whole family out. I am looking at the clam x400. My concern is the weight. Does anybody have experience lifting this unit up in the back of a truck or dragging it around or to move from spot to spot?  Any suggestions of other shelters to look at would be great. Thanks!

Just wondering what you guys prefer for fishing fall walleyes down here in southern mn. I know the creek and redtail chubs work great on the northern mn lakes during the fall months but wasnt quite sure if our lakes responded the same down here or if a smaller profile would be the way to go.
