Anyone been out or driven by recently? Trucks on the ice yet? I was up 10 days ago or so and there was about 10" of ice, and 10" of slush in spots. Pretty rough going. A fishing report would be great too if you've been out.

I was on Gull last weekend. Trucks everywere. I saw one guy driving a Yukon way to fast from Ernies to Stoney Point. He was several hundred yards away but the water was justa-bouncen in my holes. I guess nobody ever told him slower is better when driving a vehicle on the ice. I caught some very small walleyes in 22-29 feet of water and had 12 inches of good ice. From what I have been reading I should try shallower but I am going to go wast my time on Mille Lacs again this weekend instead. At least I will be fishing! I also saw lots of vehicles on Round, North Long and Rice Lakes too but I dont know how the bite is on these lakes.

Thought I'd post an update for Shamineau. There's about 14-15" of ice on the west end, and a real nice road plowed to Auger's. All the slush is frozen now, and the ice seems to be real good.

Cliff, you finally made it down to our end of the lake!  Did anybody catch a walleye?  I'm not totally turned off by them, I'll still stop by for a snack or drink...or both. You can't beat the setting - sitting out on the deck!

Today the Lake Vermilion Guides League held an ice fishing day for 35 5th and 6th graders from the Cook area at the Landing. The Landing very graciously hosted this group of kids for us. I found the owners to be very friendly and happy to be a part of the kids outing! I would not hesitate to stop in there for a meal or drink if I get in that area again! Cliff

I was on an Annandale area lake yesterday with only about 9" of ice which was getting rotten and black in places. The lake had 15" of clear ice and I was driving a Silverado on it a week earlier. There were quite a few areas where water had drained though cracks and opened up fist-sized holes within the crack.   All in all, the lake was perfectly safe for walking and more than likely not rotten or thin enough to make it unsafe for ATVs at this point. The landing was is pretty good shape, all things considered, but if one were to put an ATV in the drink, that'd be where it'd happen.
