Is there any chance of picking up a radio station carrying a playoff game this weekend while on the lake? If so, what station?

You might be able to pick it up in French. ;\) I kind of doubt you'll get any of the games though. There's a decent country station that comes in ok otherwise not too much to pick from.

When I was up in December, I could get the country station at ~92 FM. On AM I could get one that had KFAN on it. We hoped to get a pro football game but all they did was talk football and give updates to the games. Maybe the playoffs will be different. If I remember it was in the lower half of the dial.

Thanks for the info. I sure hope we can get it in, but if not, so be it. Hope the fish are biting.

Sundays all church till 11:00 so bring something else to listen to, unless you going to pray for the fish to bite!

My son and I were lucky. On Sunday we had a good bite until 10:00 and didn't think of turning the radio on until about 11:00.

Up there this past weekend 5 miles over Pine and had to duck into the truck from our sleeper a few times to check the Packers score (I'm a big cheesehead ;). I could pick up 1130AM on the radio which had coverage of the game - the signal wasn't great but good enough to catch the score.

I believe that sirius radio has the football games. Xm and sirius satellite radio have both been a good thing for us in our remote areas. I opted for XM for the baseball coverage.

Sirius radio is the way to go. We too were over pine and listened to the Packer Game on WTMJ 620 out of Milwaukee. Turn it on in the truck and tune it in on the radio in the fish house.

What can be better than the Walleye's hiting good and Packers kicking some butt.

Being a kayak angler I have to be careful going to the big pond because of wind. With calm winds Saturday I had to make a trip. I found a nice gravel spot to park and drag my yak to the water and avoid the madness at public launches. It sure was nice. The pic is from right before I launched, nice and quiet.    Smallies all over in a few feet of water on beds. They didn't want to eat though. Some guys would drop an anchor and pester the same fish for 20 minutes until she ate. That's not my style so I moved on. Eventually I got this football to slam a stick worm fished weightless, texas rigged, like a jerkbait. I didn't sight fish her, just casted into the pencil reeds after missing a blowup on topwater. She slammed it instantly. She was in the slot so she had to be released. I also got a handful of pike, nothing big enough to want to eat except one which jumped right at my kayak and spit the spinnerbait right back at me.    This lake is so awesome and so different from anything I've seen being from TN. It's going to take some time to learn, that's for sure.

Haven't heard any reports but I'd suggest spots like Ottertail River by Frazee or Wymer Graham lakes for panfish if you can legally park around them any more.  Otherwise you have some bridges like near Zorbaz on Little Pine or Long Bridge by DL, I haven't fished Zorbas but if you don't catch something at Long Bridge your doing something wrong it wont be big but it'll be action.  Otherwise look for public fishing piers, last night saw a bunch of people fishing the one by Long Lake in Vergas.  Can usually catch something off of them.

Fished Big Pine.  Caught perch lol  Not one walleye.  Fish flies are hatching and the wind kept us off of the lake a lot.  Finally yesterday we fished NW corner of the lake aka calmest spot we could find and we got a few pike.  Otherwise we picked up some decent perch 8-11" on the south side in about 6 feet.  Only saw one walleye being caught all weekend and it was a 21" while fishing for perch next to me.

While coming home from Big Pine this weekend I lost my tackle box lid which had my 3 Northern Jigs within it.  It is VERY noticeable since it has a huge 3 Northern Jigs logo sticker on the top of it.  I drove from Big Pine's public access to Vergas down through Dunvilla and when I got west of Dunvilla it was not there.  I hit some terrible cross wind on Hwy 10 coming up to the Vergas road but sadly I don't know where it went.  If anyone finds it there is a reward being offered.   Thanks  Cody!

The key for catching those big eyes is to be a Delta member and wear your hat!

Another fantastic week of fishing up in the Northwest Angle!

Two weeks into the Minnesota season an abundance of saugers are congregating around Little Oak, as well as other small islands near Crow Duck, making for an easy shore lunch spot while staying close to home. Jigging at 18-24 has produced the most fish but it isn’t too early to be pulling spinners.

On the Canadian side, walleyes are more dispersed but very plentiful on main lake points with current anywhere from 15-20 ft. of water, holes remain consistent.  Almost any method is producing fish, gold/yellow/orange jigs with a minnow seems to be the most popular.  The northern pike bite remains strong with many thirty plus fish being seen.

We hope to see you soon!

They look like they were fun.    15 boats on one spot, eh?  That's a ton!

We struggled on walleye on Frazer bay this saturday, so sunday morning I started throwing senkos.  Not quite consecutive casts like Wanderer, but i went all morning catching nothing, then caught these two cousins with 3 min of each other, smallie off the point, then the big mouth around the corner in a shallow bay.  18" smallie, 17" LMB. Good fun.    We did get about a dozen walleye on sunday night after the storms chased 15 boats away from the point we were fishing.  Mostly small, but a couple keepers.  Chartruese Jig and rainbows in about 10-12 FOW.  Couldn't buy a bite with a chub.
