Great Waters Fly Fishing Expo

4 posts in this topic

Make sure to mark your calendars for this. I've never been to it before, but I'm going this year. Sounds like a good way to spend a day.

It's March 14-16 at the Sheraton Hotel in Bloomington, located at 494 and Hwy 100.

Illtakewhaticanget and I will be down there as well. I'll probably be hanging around the Great Lakes Fly Company booth if anyone wants to stop by and say hello. I missed it last year and had to listen all year to what a good time I missed. Luckily it doesn't fall on the Brule opener again this year. grin.gif

Most of our fish came on minnows under bobbers. I spooked countless fish with even subtle jigging.

Hey, Here a quick update on actual ice thickness or snow cover on trout. 14 inchs of ice pressure ridge out there. if you are  on a snowmobile if traveling fast on it watch for it. Truck or car i do not recommend on trout with pressure ridge. And yes i have been on the whitefish chain this year in truck. just not on trout. just my 2 cents

Thanks for the info everyone. And Borch that is good to know too.  I try to spend 2-3 hours looking on cedar each trip, but It's a lot of water to break down , and having only been out hardwater cattin 6 times so far I still have a lot to learn.  Generally I spend a lot of my 3 hours losing confidence and then wind up at the meth hole to catch a few .  Putting in the work is what makes it so fun once it all comes together though!
