Does anyone know how to catch northerns through the ice on vermillion. I never have tried and i am going up sunday....any advice

If I was targeting LARGE northern, I would buy a few heavy sucker minnow and set them up on tip ups in deeper water just off some major structure. I would hold them off the bottom 8-10' (Will be interesting to see what others say" I don't normally target northern so we may all learn something.

Shamrock's suggestion is a very good one!

I would also try the large pike suckers in a shallow bay such as Greenwwod etc. along the weed edges.

I have seen quite a few large pike in shallow water when I used to spear during the winter.

I would use Quick Strike rigs on the pike suckers.

Is spearing still allowed on Vermilion, given the presence of Musky?
