Bait and Beer at Angle

4 posts in this topic

Hey guys -

Is there a place to get bait in the Angle? We are thinking about bringing up a few large sucker minnows - and we can't bring them into Canada. Any ideas?

Also - can you buy beer in the Angle? By the case?

I know that you can buy beer or a bottle at the store at the end of the road but we always use the resorts bait so I can't help you with that ?

Jimalm -

The road at the end of Youngs Bay? Or at one of the islands?

Thanks!

The Young's Bay store is were we stock up before heading over to Oak Island. They will have most of the normal brands and they will sell you a bottle from the bar. Not cheap but the fine I received because of a mix up the first time I went to the angle plus the tear down with-15 temps is the reason I bring ONLY 1 case across and get the rest at the store. It seems like less hassle at the border when you tell them you have no more then what you are suppose to bring in. Also on the minnows have you thought about frozen in salt ?

Took a drive around the lake today. The only open water I saw was in the middle out from Holiday Resort. Rest of the lake was covered with ice. When I got home I went out to check the ice thickness in front of my place. Went out about 5 feet from shore and chopped a hole with the spud bar. Measured 2 inches of ice with my measuring stick. Went out to about 15 feet from shore, chopped another hole and measured just a hair under 2 inches. Went out another 5 feet and brushed away the snow with my boot as I had done with the other holes. Hit the ice with the spud bar and all I could hear was cracking going off in every direction. Retreated to the shore. Going to give it a couple of days and check again. Hope we don't get that snow for Saturday night and Sunday.

Check craigslist see if there are any boats like yours on there. If so how much are they asking.
