Avon area lakes

5 posts in this topic

I have been having some sucess on Lower Spunk for crappies, on the small side though. Hoping to put the wheel house out on Upper Spunk Saturday. Have not yet fished the lake this winter. Has anyone else been fishing the Avon area this winter?

First off nice report. I fished Upper for walleyes earlier but haven't been out there for some time. I am going to try and get out there soon and hopefully find some crappies. The spunk lakes have some real good fishing in them my favorite is Upper but all 3 are good at times. Maybe I'll see you out there sometime and we can chat!

I was out on Upper yesterday am. Seems to have been lots of early day activity, mostly portables. There has been lots of traffic (wheeler and sleds). Out near the bullrush Island people are reporting 6 - 8 inches of ice. I stayed around the south shore and found 8.5 to 9.5 inches of clear ice with about a 2 inches of cloudy ice on top. I only found a couple of small slush holes. I hope to put my house out Sunday afternoon. Hopefully yesterdays warm weather knocked down the snow and with single digits temps this week we will be driving out soon. Look for the ugly camper conversion and stop by and say hi (if we make it out).

Good luck

Does anyone fish Middle???? I caught a bunch of walleyes and crappies in it this spring and summer, and I'm thinking about making a trip out there this winter to see if I can find them again.

The ice is iffy because of the depth, a few springs and the inlet. Shoot me a email and i can give you some areas to try. gonefishing56310@yahoo.com

I didn't think so I will ask the dnr but the way it reads youth and archery are not restricted to zone and time

I could have been wrong but normally you had to pick a zone

With warmer weather coming hopefully so will the reports.   I've been watching the bay and it seems like things are breaking up out there so I'm anticipating getting out in the next two weeks on the big lake.   Boat is ready. Just need a place to launch. Anybody been to McQuade the last few days?

I thought Archery is not restricted correct me if I am wrong   Licenses for the Spring Turkey Hunts are awarded in a computerized preference drawing for the A-B time periods. C-F time period licenses can be purchased over the counter in mid-March. Turkey hunters, other than licensed archery hunters and youth are restricted to the WILD TURKEY PERMIT AREA and TIME PERIOD selected at time of purchase
