Fishing Report out of McQuoid's Resort

1 post in this topic

Hello Everyone,

Went up with a group December 14 and 15 and we rented an 8 holer out of Angler's Paradise. The houses are positioned about 150 yds (?) off shore in about 12" of ice. You cannot drive out yet, but the staff was very willing to pick us up and drop us off at the fishhouse or our truck on shore. We very much appreciated that and their willingness to serve was very appreciated. I especially liked Darrell(?).

The perch were everywhere...but you really had to work hard to get the keepers. We come off the lake with about 13 nice ones that we saved for the fryer. What payed off for us is 1) small white jig with minnow 2) a green #6 ratso tipped with a grub, or 3) a clown colored Fiskas tipped with a grub or spikes.

One of our party caught a nice 5 lb northern with his jig and minnow, and we spotted exactly two walleyes with our cameras.

I cannot emphasis how nice the fishhouse was and it was kept up very well. The heater worked great, and there was plenty of room for us three guys in the 8 holer we were in.

Good luck!

At least10% of all eggs hatched at the Pike River Hatchery are returned to Vermilion waters every year. According to DNR statistics that percentage is usually a much higher survival rate then if they had let the walleyes spawn naturally! I consider that a good trade off! Cliff

They should not be  going  back to area waters or traded to  other dnr  districts they should go right back into LAKE VERMILLION !!!  Don't ya think its time the dnr   should start to listen  to the paying public, us ! [trappers, hunters,  fisherpeople ,boaters and snowmobilers ]

Yes, they are all done at the hatchery. Finished up two weeks ago this Saturday (4/15). Just waiting for eggs to ripen and hatch to go back out to area water bodies.

Can not say for sure, but there is parking outside of the park next to the boat ramp and also a turn a round road.
