I'm going to be out there tomorrow and wondering what the ice is like out in front of the resort. Also is there anything biting. Thanks

Real patchy ice on German. Proceed with caution. 1.5 - 2" in some places and up to 10" in others.

I have not heard anything about the fishing. Sorry.

I went out there last weekend, out from Beaver Dam, drilled plenty of holes and found there to be a good 8" of ice. Saw a couple wheelers driving out as well. This was last weekend so there should be some more ice on top of the 8". Fishing was pretty slow though. I fished the evening, only brought a couple crappies through the hole.

It sounds like the ice is not too good out there on german. Has anyone made it to the island with a wheeler yet? I like to fish the north edge of the island early ice, but not enough to walk that far grin.gif

From the point of the island going north has always been bad for ice in december. I did see a couple of portables on the south end of the lake near the deep hole but i'm not too sure how they got out there. Your best bet for the more consistant ice would be on the west end of the lake. I was out a good four hundred yadrs and found that the ice was solid. But as always, be safe.

Thanks! I think I'll just have to wait it out. The walleyes are biting too good on area lakes to chase panfish anyway.

Probably fishing Blue Lake ... or green lake, I have caught my biggest crappies around Opening weekend.  Might give a cast or three for some walleyes but love to fish Bass now, super fun catching those big ones!!   I am mostly a catch n release guy but like a good pan fish meal and looking at getting a smoker!!  Bass ... always catch n release, especially in our metro lakes to keep fishing good.  Was shocked how many people were keeping bass in a local small lake last fall!!  Doesn't take long to wipe out a small body of water.  Some fisherman think they have to keep everything they catch!!  most phones have a good camera on them ... take a pic and release for good fishing future.   Again, its OK to have a meal ... just know what, where, and your species of fish and how spawn and body of water applies to the lake size, ect...    Cret

Thanks, I'm excited about it too. I've fished those lakes and know for a fact that the existing maps are at best incomplete, and occasionally plain wrong. So I'm really looking forward to seeing what the data shows.

Not sure about KAXE , but WEVE from Virginia comes in. They are so bad, they are almost good! Their tag line was "Not too hard, and not too soft" to which I add "and not too good" If you want to hear schmaltzy drek from the 80's then tune in.

Very cool project.  I just got back from up there, and I'll be up again on another solo the first week of May.  I'll check back if I decide to enter near Ely.

Eyeguy - what size weight are you using at the Miss?  Are you using a bullet weight and a worm hook to hold your crawler?   Cret
