Best place to have a permenent shack

Just wondering what resorts are the brest for having a shack stay there. Everything considered price,service,location. I'm looking at buying one at a few different places such as Brandt's,Fisherman's Wharf and Red Door. thanks

I keep mine at Wilderness Warmth, on the South end. The prices are reasonable and you can also pay a summer fee for summer use. It is not "on the lake" but only 1/4 mile from the Cove Bay access. Jay and Amber keep thier roads plowed well and I feel safe with them watching the ice.

I've used a few places and last two years we have been out of Hunters.They keep good rodes and always helping if you need anything.Shower house on shore makes it nice to stay up for long weekends.

I have been out of the Red Door the last couple years. I think it is probably the cheapest place and they are pretty good about taking care of moving the shack, filling propane tanks etc... but I have yet to get a whole lot of fishing advice from them. Pretty much on my own with the help of this website.

I don't have any advice for you as to where to put a permanent, I was actually looking for some help myself. I am also in the process of buying a shack. I would prefer being on the west-south side. Love the Blue Goose and want to store it somewhere close by for summer fishing as well. Any advice? Thanks and happy fishing!!!

I have looked into many and plan on pulling the trigger on a house soon. I found that whatever or where ever I buy from I will be having it moved to Hunters. World class service and a good time with saftey and fish catching in mind. THIS IS ONLY MY OPINION.

I also have to reccomend Wilderness Warmth, its on the south end and very convenient to get to if you are coming from that direction. Jay or his son spend a ton of time ON THE ICE, not in the restaruant, bait shop or resort...they are out there and have been more than helpful meeting all of my needs. They know whats going on out there and it pays off in terms of safety, security and fish!

aaahhhh yes, the goose, if you want to be close to there, garrison sports is the place to be, if he has room. I have mine there and he runs a good operation!!

it all boils down to what you are looking for. I think garrison sports is the best because of price/location/etc/etc/ BUT, ask anyone with a house on the lake and they will say the same for their resort. what I'd recommend is getting a list of questions that pertain to your situation/use of the house, and take a day and go talk IN PERSON to all the possible places you might land and decide from there. I like GS because we can use the houses in the summer/fall and it literally a stones throw from the lake, not to mention the cost, and the accessibility to the goose, casino, etc. you just have to find the right fit for you!! either way, see you on the ice!!

If you plan on keeping your house in use during the summer the wharf has 90 acrs. So you have plenty of room where your house is. Space is nice you dont realize how nice it is till you dont have any and the fishing is great year round. I being one of the staff will promise you good sevice. JUSTIN

I bought a shack at the Wharf last weekend and look forward to a good winter of fishing, only bad part is i always fish the west and south side of the lake so i may need some pointers in the right direction with my shack. Dennis already showed us wonderful service while showing us shacks and was by far the best of any resort we stopped at and we hit over 10, that was a big part of our decision, I hope the fishing is as good as the service. What piece of structure is generally the best in that area in the winter?

I would strongly agree with the guys on the page that said wilderness warmth. They are constantly working hard and putting people on fish. Talk to Brandon or jay and they will not only point you in the right direction they bring ya right to the spot depending how busy they are. There service is second to none and are the nicest people. Give them a call. They are located out of cove Bay and cover some great fishing water.

Excellent price,excellant service,newer equipment,and great people,that say,s it all.and they also stay out on the lake in their own house.i dont know of any other resort owners that stay on the lake in their own house every week end.

wilderness warmth has a great summer package. They even put you in a great spot in the lot so you can actually pull a truck and boat in, not to mention get gear into your house. They have power, fish cleaning shack, lights and a great group of guys that are die hards fishing up there all the time. How many storage places that you know of can you actually sit out in front of your house and BBQ. Its a great joint, make sure to give them a call!

What do you guys pay for the services? The web sites don't post the prices and nobody here mentions prices either. Not mentioning prices only works in the resorts favor to keep the prices up. What does a typical winter package with 2 road passes, summer storage, and summer access with electric cost? I’m seriously debating buying a perm on the Mille Lacs but these costs may change my mind. Thanks for any help.

I HAVE A 10X16 AND PAY 425 FOR THE WINTER AND 175 FOR THE SUMMER. PRICES ARE PRETTY CLOSE TO THIS FOR THE BIGGER ONES. THIS INCLUDES ELECTRIC, BATHROOM ECT. WILDERNESS WARMTH TAKES GREAT CARE OF ME, I HIGHLY RECCOMEND THEM.

I will second that they are great to me as well I have a 10x20 and I pay 440.00. I was on the east side and I was paying over 6 hundred and I got %#$*^& service when It snowed. Remember jay and amber run brand new trucks they dont break down like the guys that are running around in 1970's trucks and the greatest thing is they dont let the house hit them to slow the house down they take extra good care of your house because they dont want to bang up there trucks

I don't have a perm. but can tell you that Hunters is a class outfit. Have known the owners for years. We were out with 4 wheel houses for the perch contest last year and got

hit with a big storm, went from not enuf snow to bank the house to 3 ft drifts overnight. The Hunters crew worked their butts of to get EVERONE off the lake, not just their rentals or their roads but everyone. Great effort.

Im coming up to mille lacs in january. Im thinking of staying at twin pines.This will be the first time i have fished this lake. Does anyone now if this is a good place to stay? And if you guys are looking for an ice house I have 2 for sale.I have a 7x12 and 8x20.

does that rate include just dead storage in the summer or can you stay in it, any more details about the package they have at Wilderness Warmth resort for permenents would be great! I'm a first time shack owner but longtime fisherman on Mille Lacs-I'm just learning the ropes!
